Hello MyBroadband,

Please could I get some advice or guidance on an issue that has shown up in regards to a previous tenant removing the ONT box from the property I have moved into.

I have contacted the landlord who initially agreed to either retrieve the ONT box from the previous tenant or replace it. She has now retracted.

I contacted Mind the Speed to get some more info, all I got was I have to pay for installation again. I contacted Metrofibre who said they would follow up with the previous tenant to retrieve the box and would replace the ONT free of charge. When they realised I had signed up with MTS, they retracted as well and then said that even if the ONT was available on the property, I couldnt use it.

I have also found out through a phone call as well as the email conversation with Metrofibre that removing the ONT is illegal, it is considered theft as it is the property of Metrofibre.

I am now stuck with a R1250 bill extra on top of all the costs of moving due to the act of someone I have never met, a landlord who wont take responsibility and fibre network who has discrepancies in their communications and approach to a new customer.

What else is possible here? TIA?

If you've been explicitly told that even if you had the old ONT you would be unable to use it with Mind the Speed, then why does this matter at all?
