ONT when moving

My move is also to an Openserve section - moving from Frogfoot. There is already an ONT but not sure of the state of the connection... at least I have Rain 5G as a backup which SHOULD work

If the existing B number is ceased Openserve will likely swap the ONT. If the B number is not ceased and the B number is in the holding pool even if you don't know the B number when the ISP places a provide order the B number will be migrated. If the B number is still active and you place a new order it will trigger installation again.

So apart from the first Openserve techie who kept on making promises of pitching and then just re-assigning to another techie, I am really impressed by the service.

Had my doubts but when Thabang took over on Monday evening but he promised that he will be there around 8h30 on Tuesday morning. And he arrived pretty much on time.
He did struggle to find the black box but did eventually and after that the install went quick.
Unfortunately there was a cable break at the main box and he had to request help from the cable joint division.
Thabang himself followed up with me this morning and confirmed a team has been assigned to the job. He played it safe and said they will have it fixed before Friday afternoon.
Lo and behold. This afternoon 14h30 the cable team pitched. Did loads of testing and went back and forth from the depot to get spares a few time. But they had it fixed at around 16h30. Cable team phoned Thabang from the site and requested him to activate line when he gets time.
All we had to do was send him the ONT serial number and 15min later the PON light went steady green!
10min later Thabang forwarded the new B number.

Unfortunately for us the Openserve "assigners", as Thabang calls them, already knocked off for the day so they could not tick off the installation as complete for the ISP. So we will only receive the ISP username and password tomorrow morning!

But I am even more impressed by @powermzii !

After he saw I am going to have trouble with the install and wife needed to be connected for work today. He contacted me and so generously offered to borrow me his Rain 5G setup until we are sorted.

Having trouble finding our own router and SIM in the packed boxes I decided to take him up on his offer. Quickly arranged pick up point which suited us both and by last night I had everything up and running.

What a guy!!! Had a lekker chat as well and so nice to meet you! I owe you big time and you can press on my button anytime!

Thank again for the help Sir.... And as promised you will get your bags of biltong tomorrow (Seeing that you wanted no other form of payment for the use of your tech).

This is why I love MyBB!!!
