Openbrowse router proxies not avaliable!?

Well I have already made a decision to drop OpenBrowse.... decided I'm going to use the R90 saving to rather buy myself some extra international Gigs at R65 per Gb. I'll still use the local for downloads but giving up trying to browse international with it....

Hi Guys

Is GMAIL working now?

Facebook?

Hacking sites, trojans / worms are all blocked now on OpenRouter.

seems to be ok now thanks.

oh regarding the hacking ect sites when that happened i wasnt on any "strange" sites so thats why i was kinda conserned , unless it was some sore of add thing on a site

That sounds wierd, I know that if you get an error from the Openbrowse proxies there is a formatted message with the IP/FQDN of the proxy server - are you getting that ?

I must admit that there were a few errors with Gmail - but its working for me now - not getting any "file blocked openbrowse policy" errors anymore.

Skype seems to be better too now, everyone still having problems with MSN ?

Pk

Sorry,

meant to say - are you just getting a generic IE error - or an actual page from Openbrowse proxies saying there is a problem ?

Pk

Might be a worm or trojan trying to connect to the site.

The proxy will automatically block those to protect your PC.

OpenBrowse users are extremely safe when it comes to these nasty creatures.

I know that a generic IE Error is different to a Proxy error - the proxy will always give you an explanation as to why the site is inaccessible...

Sounds like a strange strange problem there dude...

As for me, everything seems to be working better than Ever MrBEEP - well done !

:mad::(:mad::(:confused:

its gone reallyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy slow again msn still messed up and so is gmail i cant even got to the sign in page now

What the hell are you on about - I'm on GMail, Skype and GoogleChat right now....Are you sure you don't have an ADSL Line problem ?

Does your Router show any dropped packets ? I have to reboot my Telkom/Marconi Premium Combo modem every 3-4 days cause it gets into this wierd state where it's alive, but no amount of disconnects/reconnects helps, a Hard On/Off sorts it out.

Pk

Ah, the rub :D

Did'nt see the time Angelus, Sorry !!!

But do you have dropped packets in your ADSL router status page ?

Pk

Hey guys,

I'll be responding to technical queries and support on the openbrowse caches, I will be trying to provide a higher level of support and be able to make changes to openbrowse configurations on-the-fly.

This is to make sure that openbrowse works as intended 24/7.

Thanks

Well openbrowse is really meant for HTTP traffic, so I doubt Cachemaster and MrBeep will be able to make standalone MSN/Yahoo work with any reliability...

I just use it for browsing mostly, but setting HTTPS proxies in Skype worked fine for me.

My 2c.

Guys,

openbrowse is MEANT for browsing, so no gaurantees as to MSN/Skype/Yahoo etc...can be given.

BUT - the cache servers will accept HTTPS proxying, and as Pk stated thats working for him.

At the moment - I'm looking at the cache logs - and see many successful connections to MSN/Skype/Yahoo/Googlechat.

Oh and facebook/gmail are working as intended now - an errant file-download block was causing the issue.

Thanks

Cachemaster
