OpenServe in a Vumatel area

So we have Vumatel. Guy rings the bell this morning and tells me that he’s from Openserve doing a survey to see if we’d be interested in switching. Enough people say yes and they’ll come to our suburb.

Openserve in my area is rock-solid and never goes down during load shedding. It's not a symmetric connection like Vuma, but I'm totally OK with that.

Price is considerably better. I originally signed up for 100Mbps, then got the free upgrade to 200Mbps. Now paying R136/m extra for 500Mbps.

I've heard about this sort of thing happening from the Telkom guy that fixed my copper line. I also have Vuma in my area but been using VDSL which was great right up until the point where some homeless guy tried to saw off the cable joint post and steal it.

Anyways, thankfully its fixed now, so it bought me some more time.

The OpenServe coverage map says I can now pre-order. What does that mean? They didn’t trench or anything, are they allowed to use Vumatel’s ducts?

Can I approximate when they’ll go live?

Openserve uses their existing telephone poles to roll out their fibre. They don't trench or use existing ducts from other FNOs

They do both, my current fibre is trenched while the previous location was aerial.
