After a good run of a couple of years on 40mbps VDSL, my new neighbours decided to cut my phone line. Since then it's been a disaster - whenever it rains I would get disconnects and really long resync times.

So I ordered FTTH from WebAfrica and the whole process (including erecting new poles along the street) took under 6 weeks! The rather complicated (due to trees and other obstacles) installation took about 5 hours and it's been rock solid so far. Getting 1ms pings to work and being able to do video conferencing in full HD is awesome.

So, good job OpenServe & WebAfrica.

My only complaints are the 50% upload limit and slightly higher price than other fibre providers.

Yup I was also very impressed with Openserve. Ordered fibre on a Thursday, they called me on the Friday to say someone was going to come out and install on Monday. They called me when they were on their way! And I was up and running on the Monday.

That's fast! What area are you in?

Wish I could say the same. It all looked promising in the beginning when I applied for my FTTH.

We are on technician number 5 now.

First one phoned to arrange time and never pitched.
Second one arrived but there was no black box installed on the pole. He reported it to supervisor and they would get the other department to install said black box.
Third one arrived just to confirm what #2 already knew.
Fourth one arrived knowing that he must install said black box but didn't bring any material because he just wanted to come and make sure the other 2 wasn't taking chances. Went to office to fetch material and never returned.
Fifth one phoned and said he will let me know when he can come this week.

Not holding my breath. Actually getting funny at this stage.
