happy openweb subscriber here too, are my eyes shut too?
They appear to be.
It doesn't take much to realize that openweb have lied to us about their shaping policy. If you chose to believe their claims that their shaping is based purely on network traffic then you must be blind.
Do you actually believe that the network experiences the exact same traffic, at the exact same time, every single weekday? It can only be that way if the shaping occurs at a precise time everyday.
Do you actually believe that the network experiences the exact same level of traffic on a public holiday as it does on a regular weekday? I mean, this must be the case as their shaping is indistinguishable. According to cableguy it's because people sit at home and download on public holidays. Apparently they don't download on weekends because the system seems to remain unshaped.
They advertise their products as being shaped dynamically but it doesn't take a genius to see that isn't the case. When confronted, they'll either "misread" your question or deny the obvious. Do you find this type of behavior to be acceptable? If not, then please ask openweb what the difference is between their gold, gold leon, gold orange, titan, standard, gamer king, etc.. Because they advertise them all to be vastly different, and at significantly different prices and yet, nobody seems to see any differences in their performance. Now you must pay more then their competitors to get an unshaped account. I'm sure it will always stay unshaped. Because they're very transparent about how their shaping works.
Don't even get me started with the account sharing thing. How the saix system is apparently not an accurate tool on openweb account (but it is for other isp's) and hence it shows that multiple IP's have been been connecting to the same account. How it's only a glitch in the system when two people found out they had the same login details. How most people get the password 1122. How some of us have usernames that appear to be the name of somebody else. How users were being given new accounts when all they wanted was a password change. How it is necessary for us to request for our accounts to be given the password change feature. Definitely not suspicious...
According to saix, using my "new" login details, I am the only IP address connected to my account. My usage last month was 74gb. Not bad seeing as though my previous account was averaging 150-200gb per month when there were these other "magical" IP addresses connected to it, from vastly different parts of the country.
Now I'm happy that your account is working well, I really am.. But you have to be extremely naive to think that you are special. You're just another customer to them and, when push comes to shove, they'll lie to you just as callously as they did to us. If support is not important to you, and performance is all that matters, then enjoy it while it lasts. Good luck trying to get an honest answer when you start having problems. I, along with many others, will be taking my business elsewhere.
