Openweb advice needed

Good day all

Need some ISP advice please, i am currently on Mweb standard 2mb uncapped, which is advertised as uncapped but sadly they throttle you at 70GB and the only way to really lift is to pay extra for the business uncapped package

So for downloading it is useless and what i use to do over past few months and so is to get WA capped account which was nice with the Download plus promotion giving you 50GB - 1TB bandwidth from 12:00 - 6:00am.

But that deal has since expired...and i am looking towards this new deal from Opeweb, full speeds from 12:00 - 7:00am

The mweb account is currently on my dads name and he doesn't want to upgrade since for his purposes it is fine, which i understand.

Hence why i am seeking an alternative for my downloading requirements.

I just need an account where i can do about 100 -150GB of downloading a month without being shaped & throttled to a crawl.

Anyone that is currently using this 2mb Openweb Uncapped account @ R150 that can comment on the speeds and usage threshold limits?

Sorry if this is a double post...

Thanks in advance.

Peace

I am on one of their 4meg uncapped atm. send me a PM if you want me to run speed tests/other tests.

Generally it is bad for everything but downloading late at night.

Why is volume downloaded so important to you? I stream what I want when I want. With a few downloads for others/internet problem days.

I'm curious why people store everything that they will probably never all use/watch.

Because he wants to download the Internet.

@Keeper lots of misconceptions in your tldr post but I can't be bothered to reply to them. Seems most people have moved away from downloading the Internet and just download what they want to watch. (And you do realise people can still actually download current series AND movies while still making use of Streaming services... Right..?) :D

At the end of the day it doesn't matter in any case as we are all free to use services as we see fit. :)

It more than thoroughly answer my question. :D

Here is my summary, summarized:

- SD everything from put.io to my one device at a time.

Thanks for taking the time to explain it properly. Different needs for different people...

Will be really funny the day eskom takes out all his hard drives.

Here's my openweb advice:

Don't use openweb

what are you reasons not to use them....I am currently testing them out. not on it long enough to see the downside yet. I am basically just testing what the 2mb uncapped line is like for streaming. Got a couple of video add ons on xbmc running but it looks like it plays a bit choppy at 8pm...will test it out again at 9 to see there is a difference.

I got OpenWeb Home Uncapped. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE.

It is practically useless, i cancelled within 3 days of purchase.

The only time you can use this like 10pm-6am. rest of the time, takes 5mins to open any page.

You get what you pay for. Their home accounts are half the price of the other ISPs. So you get to use it for half the time :)

If you want a proper account from them take the home premium or business.

Their home uncapped accounts are crap.

You need premium or business for anything decent.
