OpenWeb Blocking Websites

-I see there is a cached a ban for www.4chan.org, which means might not even be openweb's openbrowse....

There was no entry in our database for your ban. Therefore, the reason for this ban cannot be automatically determined. It is likely that your ISP is caching a ban intended for someone else. (If your ISP is BT Internet, it appears that they are categorically redirecting you to this page. For the time being we are unable to do anything about this. You may want to contact them for further questions.) Please contact a moderator on #4chan @ irc.rizon.net with your IP address (198.?.?.?) for more details.

that's only one of the sites which he tried to visit, whilst the rest appear to be blocked by the local proxy which OpenBrowse works with.

1. The Piratebay isn't only there for illegal downloads. You can also download free and open source material there.

2. I understand why they would block streaming sites, as they mention that. But sites that are data intensive should not be blocked as I am still merely browsing (which is what OpenBrowse is intended for)

3. 4chan has many boards, who says I go onto the porn boards? And whether it's porn or not does not matter, since porn is not illegal. So why are they blocking it?

Still no response to the email I sent at around 15:30

You're explaining this to the wrong person.... don't tell it to me... tell it to OpenWeb.

I tried emailing OpenWeb about something to do with one of their products and never received a reply after a week. Try this email: [email protected]. You should get a reply

lol, TPB does have adultfriendfinder down the side, maybe that's why they block it  :p

And I cannot find anyway to list only legal downloads, do you need to know what legal thing you are looking for or is there somewhere to browse all the legal stuff??

Hey Friends

Seems to be a problem with a configuration file somewhere on the OpenBrowse system.

I have asked the head engineer to resolve this matter asap.

We do not block sites on OpenBrowse, only downloads during the week. On weekends we have OpenBrowse OpenTime of course, where you can download to your hearts content!

Kind regards
MrBEEP

OpenTime - ah the days of Egoli - I'm glad they're gone! :D

Thanks for responding Mr.Beep - I'm sure everyone will be at ease now :)

I think thats loosely translated into:

"Thank you for allowing me to look at Porn, and let the world know that I do"

:D

how can they block sites - surely that's not legal. The job of the ISP is to deliver content, not to filter sites.

If its true I'll stay far away from them. You should contact them and get their official reponse.

Did you read the thread ...or the first post at least?

Maybe remember that for next time ;)
