Openweb Capped

Hi Guys,

I am almost 2 years in the Republic and the only thing i miss about holland is the simple and fast internet. I think South-Africa is 15 years behind with the speed and the service.

I now have a AXXESS 30G capped connection and from day one it works brilliant and i have no issues with that, i was looking for an uncapped connection and i have read a lot about uncapped connections being "Shaped" and "Throttled" and especially about OW, i prefer not to be shaped and throttled or that my account is shared and such.

My question is : does an uncapped 4 till 10mb line that doesn't get shaped or throttled for a good price exists here?

And my second question is : is Openweb capped just as promising (!) as their uncapped connections and does anybody here has experience with OW capped, regarding speed, service, troubles etc etc.

Openweb capped accounts are really really good. Full speed 24/7....... Do NOT touch their uncapped accounts. They are just garbage to be honest...

Although you would still be supporting a dishonest company who have fake registration details, do not actually have a office, and threaten you if you try to leave?

That never happened to me so I can't comment on that.

The fake registration details. Well they did say they do not have a actual building.

The thing is they still sell IS data. IS has approved and accept Openweb the way they are running......

I might not agree with some aspects on how they run their business but I do like their capped accounts. Tested ALL the accounts from all the providers and my top 3 would be Openweb,Crystalweb and Telkom.

They are the best capped accounts in my opinion in terms of performance from my location and value for money.

Just because people don't like a company does not mean I need to trash their name. If something happened to you then I'm sorry but it does not mean everyone else needs to cancel in protest. How many people hate Telkom? Yet I only had a good experience and the capped Telkom accounts are really impressive.

I had a problem with Openweb uncapped accounts and will NEVER recommend them but their capped accounts are good and if some one asks I will recommend them just as I will recommend Crystalweb and Telkom as alternatives.

I understand where you are coming from, But I for one, Will not support a business who's foundation is built on lies and deceit,

They simply resell IS capped accounts, I personally think they have a reseller plan with another ISP like WA etc.

Not to mention they don't have any employees besides Keoma and Athol who play dress up to make it look like they're bigger than they are.

I'd count the days if I were you, That company isn't going to last much longer.

People still buy their uncapped accounts. Don't know why because yeah even the direct IS uncapped accounts are so much better than those but I think they will make a spash in the capped market.

As far as I know they are the only IS reseller that sells uncapped after hours. I don't know how they can do that if they are simply IS resellers because then Crystalweb would have also sold uncapped afterhours accounts. Really not sure how the whole setup really works but I do like their capped accounts and will stay there until anything better comes out.

I tried crystalweb and their accounts are great but it's not better or worse so I think I will just stay where I am right now. The uncapped between 00:00 and 6am is just a better option for me now if I need tons of data between that time I know I have it, not that crystalweb data is not enough but I just feel that is a slight bonus that Openweb has going for them that others don't.

As for support Crystalweb hands down. They win and that is why I rated them highly on the survey. I think capped accounts don't really give problems and I have not needed support so I can't say how good or bad Openweb support is because I have never emailed them since sign up.

Yep, I understand fully.

I too wonder how they are able to offer uncapped after hours... something to think about.
 
No it is pretty much uncapped. Also because it is a capped account it can't be shared because the usage will be shared then. I make sure I check http://userstats.isdsl.net and since I got the account 4 months back it has not been accessed by anyone but me.

It is also truly unshaped because I left a torrent open on p2p and forgot to kill the client the next morning and it chowed over 20GB daytime usage during the day on my 10Mbps line and completed the torrent on a working day. Yeah nice to see it is unshaped but was not so nice for my cap.

Below is the stats for the 50GB capped account.

When you log into users.isdsl.net what account type does it say under the "home" page
 
Ohh and also forgot to say that something crystalweb really got going for them is the 100GB free usenet account. That is pretty cool too. In fact very cool.
 
It does not say. I remember that a IS uncapped account shows that but this one does not.....
