Right...

So this morning I sit at work, wondering I wonder when I will receive my uncapped username/password from OpenWeb, considering MrBeep has promised it to me on the 1st of Feb...

As I ponder about this, I smile, as I see the email arriving. My username and password promptly displayed in bold, and me eager to get home and test out this whole ISDSL thing....

I get home, low and behold, I cannot log in... Authentication failed. Immediately, I fire off a email to OpenWeb, enquering about the username/password as first impressions obviously states that it was typed wrong somewhere... After careful consideration, I log in at http://users.isdsl.net

TO MY MIGHT AMAZEMENT!!! The account is limited to two sessions, I have one session logged in from Pretoria ESR, one logged in on Bellville ESR.

Now, let's look at the facts...
- I got my username/password this morning at approximately 10AM
- I was at work the whole day where there is no DSL line in existance
- BOTH sessions have been logged in for less than 1 Hour (both between 50 and 60 minutes actually)
- MrBeep, and OpenWeb, are the ONLY parties (apart from myself) that knows the username and password

WHO gave my account details out????? I want awnsers here MrBeep... OBVIOUSLY something is fscked up badly...

At R2200 PM with 28 Days in the month, and me unable to use my account because of the fact that other RANDOM people are logged in with it that SOMEHOW got my account from OpenWeb.. I think a R78 credit for the day I am unable to use my account so far - is in order...

I've had nothing, NOTHING but trouble from you so far. First I send you emails, you (not very politely) inform me to pay up, you haven't received any mails from me. A few days later, and you ADMIT on this VERY SAME FORUM that there was problems with your mail server (yet, your customer is wrong right, I guess I didn't email you). Now I pay, through my NECK for 'broadband' at a whopping price of R2200 per month, to have OTHER PEOPLE use my account??? WHAT CRAP IS THIS!!!!

I was using a free Uncapped account from OpenWeb for the month of January which worked extremely well, however I also noticed there was always another session on the account.

It being a free account I dont mind and probably was normal since someone else (at OpenWeb I presume) was probably using it aswell, but if this is a full account (i.e paid as you say) I strongly doubt you should have two connections active, or even one :)

New South Africa? :)

Normally Uncapped accounts have only 1 concurrent.....

The fact remains, it is 1) MY account, 2) I authorise who uses it and not, considering I pay for it.

Unless I get a responce here very quick, I will be going to the police to open a case of fraud.

That is MY account, NO ONE is authorised to use it...

Yeah I was wondering the same thing.

It seems that the account that you got is a recycled one. The reason I say that is because of the huge amount of traffic from the previous month. So the previous user might still be using it and openweb forgot to change the pw?

Possible, but I think it's a EXTREMELY stupid mistake to make...

Just because it's a uncapped account and the bandwidth is unlimited, doesn't mean it's a green light for anyone to use and abuse as is.

One of the sessions actually DID disconnect a while ago, and they promptly also RECONNECTED... So someone is actively using it... This isn't a accident.

I understand your need to receive an answer, however I honestly doubt opening a police case will do anything in the short term, however calling OpenWeb or waiting for a response here would indeed be best.

Based upon previous posts on the forum this is rather unique and I am certain OpenWeb will assist you extremely quickly once aware of the situation.

Agreed, it obvious from the January stats that someone else cancelled the account and Openweb has obviously passed this account on to you.

I guess they forgot to change the password!

But I think a pro-rata refund is in order, considering the price paid.

Everyone makes mistakes, it's how fast and effectively you can fix those mistakes. I really think it's a mistake and doubt opening a police case will help at all!

Well my 4x 1mbit uncapped openweb accounts were activated as promised this morning with no hiccups and no simultaneous sessions so as an OpenWeb customer I'm happy so far!

Greets

Unfortuantly i only work on the telephonic support side of openweb so i cant do anything to fix it. I have however informed MrBeep, but hes not near a pc at the moment.

@savage, can you please pm me your contact details so i can get hold of you.

I'm on duty tomorrow for telephonic support, so i'll try everything to get this sorted asap.

Abosultely and completely off-topic, but the forum time is broken. Its 7:15pm and the time of post shows 8:09 pm???

*edit* unless forum time is GMT time?

Hi All

2x concurrent connections are possible.

Read here: http://www.gam.co.za/connectivity/adsl_uncapped.php

Just contact OpenWeb and they will sort it out.

Openweb uncapped and Gamco uncapped are different.

With us, if your line can handle it, you can download 100's of gigs per mounth.

when you mouse over the "Uncapped Express ADSL – Interpreting the service"

This Business ADSL service has been developed mainly for the conservative business user who requires the assurance of an uninterrupted and fixed cost ADSL service. The Business ADSL Express service is a managed service, whereby the customers usage is monitored and recorded. The service is allocated a certain threshold for the month which is divided into a 10 day rolling window. If a customer reaches his 10 day threshold before the 10th day, his bandwidth will be halved (e.g. 512Kbps to 256Kbps 1MB to 512K). However, if his consumption is reduced, his bandwidth will be restored to the purchased level. This mechanism has been put in place in order to discourage abuse of the service and thereby giving the conservative business user a more superior service.

The thresholds are as follows:
512 = 30 Gig for 30 days which is divided in 3 segments of 10 Gig each. The usage is monitored over a 10 day rolling window period
1024 = 60 Gig for 30 days which is divided in 3 segments of 20 Gig each. The usage is monitored over a 10 day rolling window period.

This service is unshaped and no restrictions are placed on this service whatsoever eg P2P.A normal user name and password is provided for this service so clients may use there own routers.Only 1 concurrent connection is allowed on each user name and password, though unlimited people may be connected to this 1 concurrent connection.

If you read it the way its on the site, it includes both normal users & business users.

Bonus is, if your take a business uncapped, you pay more and receive a "capped" service as noted above.

But i stand corrected if the above definition does not include the "home" user. But sure looks that way.

Hi All

Ok. i have had a look at my uncapped account and found 2 connections..

I am going to call OpenWeb tommrow and find out.

I agree this is ****.

Who ever has an uncapped account have a look. Also i did a trace to find out where the ip comes from and it comes from the same place.

Cheers
BB :)

Hey Friends

I have managed to find the problem with savage's account. His name is MrBEEP. I either:

1. Forgot to change the password
2. Forgot to push update once the password has changed.

Ultimately, I dicovered I was human today, which was quite a revelation.

Anyways, I apologise savage.

Because your Uncapped account has multiple sessions doesn't mean it is hacked.

It can be one of the following reasons:

1. Telkom sessions not disconnecting when your router disconnects. (Keep in mind, because you connect from New Doornfontein 2 in this session doesnt mean you will connect to it from the next session)

2. Its a special account (we recycle these accounts to make them economical)

I will be disabling the session details service tomorrow, as this has clearly caused alot of confusion between users.

For session details in the future, you may email: [email protected]

The details will be made available through the OpenWeb Control Panel when available in the near future.

I've had no problems either. :)
