Openweb Gold Shaping Policy 2

If you go look at the openweb thread u will see my experience is far from the exception. Its the exact same complaint from A LOT of people, but im guessing ure just not bothering to go look before saying that

As is with almost all the ISP feedback threads. Generally you are going to find most posts are going to be about people with problems because what is there really to post about if everything is running smoothly. I would say however that from the looks of it OpenWeb has a very high ratio of positive feedback compared to other ISP threads. Just sayin.

I'm an OW customer. I can't understand why it's arrogant when you are requested to provide the feedback in the official feedback. This is the platform everybody else is using.

This gold account has been a PR nightmare for OW.

Why has this thread been closed?

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=499598

Are the exposed facts and resulting information about a SAn ISP and it's methods not the reason this community exists?

Are the advertisers calling the shots over the community it seeks to serve?

That wouldn't be the first time that a thread has been closed in this fashion #JUSTSAYING

The PR nightmare has been the attitude, not the promotion. The people on the thread who thought they were on Gold Uncapped because they took up an offer called Gold Uncapped Promotion seem happy to let it go, myself included (with some basic acknowledge rather than a stroppy "didn't say Original").

It would have been the easiest thing in the world to say "sorry, the January campaign was poorly communicated but it was a genuine mistake on our part. Since then, all our promotions have made it clear with edition is being sold. Apologies to anyone affected."

Instead we got:

There is nothing to apologise for.

Why does anyone use Openweb?

Maybe it's because they are the best when it comes to providing you with no holds bard no restrictions internet?

They have a lot of packages, but to be fair, the new ones that they bring out are specials (so it's not really a bad thing)
the "leon gold" and "orange gold" and "original gold" is a bit confusing though, I can agree with that.

I'll always be with OpenWeb, no other ISP comes close.

Why are people trying to download during business hours anyway? Leave your downloading for after hours or go and get yourself a business uncapped account.

Come to think of it, my OpenWeb Gold account was also a promotion. Maybe that's why I had issues as well.

I wasn't even trying to download, just simple browsing, YouTube and online gaming were throttled to an eye-watering 20KBps.

I thought Openweb was all about not being restricted or limited; wasn't that your tag line now for years

My needs are simple: Not being told how to use it

Which I thought OpenWeb was all about :)

Doesn't mean there is no shaping. No uncapped ISP in SA could offer a fully unrestricted, unshaped account at consumer prices.

It does however mean you can download what you want, how you want and not be throttled because of your usage.

As I said, the exception, not the norm. Sounds more like there was an issue on your side than on OW's side, because my and countless others do not have such shoddy service during business hours.

It still is what OW is about. There's shaping during the day, but you're free to use as much data as the shaping allows. OW doesn't have usage/throttling policies on top of shaping policies.

Go and read the AUP and the terms and conditions. The only person at fault for not understanding the product is you. You get what you pay for.

I am also on OpenWeb, but I actually switch accounts during business hours to a capped unshaped account. So at night I can download to my heart's content and during the day I can browse and read emails as much as I need to.

Its sad that that is what u need to do to use the internet in daytime, and the reason i left.

If that's how you work, there are cheaper ISPs you could use (assuming you're on OpenWeb gold)

WTF seriously dude, you need 1 uncapped account and 1 capped account just to ensure you can browse during the day!?
Surely you joking right, either that or you must be some serious OW Fanboi.........

*Grabs popcorn, waits for the troll*

Ive done the same for years as well... even on Mweb Uncapped i did same. so there isnt anything wrong with having more than one account. if my OW fails then i test with my telkom acc - if that doesnt work i know either my DNS (switch ill switch off) then if cant still browse log ticket with telkom.

im on OW gamers bling, and im gettin 500KBps on 4mbps gamers bling account. so far this month I've done around 200GB...

on side note: dont show this thread to Blankman please! just dont.

and as well if you not happy with OW then simply change to different ISP then. why moan over 200000 threads and stuff... cancel it and go with someone else. very simple.
