OpenWeb slashes capped ADSL pricing

Balanced?

What is the official stance with regards to NNTP and P2P torrents during office hours and evening hours(5pm to 12pm) before mid-night?

I quite like this:

Clients can now choose to purchase their account on a monthly or once-off basis. If the client selects once-off, the account will automatically expire at the end of the month the account is purchased in.

I found two problems with OW capped -
1. Up to 10Mbps - so could not use my full line capacity of 15Mbps
2. DNS DoS Attack on their accounts - I was averaging 1GB a day just with ADSL router connected by unplugged from my network.

I tried to cancel my account with in a few days an their policy is a full month cancellation - so was stuck with them for 1 and a half months. I ended up cutting my loses and subscribed to another ISP way before then.

Nice to see the prices catching up to the service levels. Still a long way to go for a perfect match though

I'm enjoying my capped Openweb account. Price doesn't seem to be any different to me though.

1. They've changed that recently actually. Now up to 40Mbps (https://home.openweb.co.za/client/order_product/504).
2. This could happen to any ISP, if your IP is getting DOS'd then turn your router off for 30 minutes and hope for a new IP. Their accounts are on the IS network, they don't have any control over which IPs are assigned to you.

1. Interesting - must be recent change.
2. I agree and got tired of powering off router several times a day as new IP worked for a few hours.

“Our perfectly-balanced network offers customers fast, reliable ADSL access at an affordable rate. Capped Unshaped offers them super priority which means real, fast speeds all the time.”

Think I will stay far away, a company that cannot even get the advert right is a company I avoid.

Why are the comments closed ? Because there were too many negative comments ? Because this is partnered content?

Here's my experience with Open web. After using it for 1 month and deciding to rather try crystalweb, I tried to cancel my openweb account. 3 months later they billed me an extra 2 times !! I had a snotty arrogant support consultant basically tell me there's nothing they can do about it and its tough luck.

So in fear that the billing will continue, I cancelled my debit card and ordered a new one, cause it didn't seem like they were going to stop.

So ya, needless to say I had a VERY sour experience with Openweb, and I will tell this story EVERY TIME there is an Openweb article, they are utter rubbish.
