My IS gold is also up to .... Only getting 0-8KB/s from Newsdemon. AfriHost free account flying full speed.
 
Going like a Boeing here! IS Gold. A friend of mine that works for Telkom says alot of the exchanges are overloaded as well
 
Hi guys!
Just want to know what speeds do guys get on IS gold accounts?I mostly use news servers an a lil bit of torrents and gaming.I have experience with vb gold only and thinking of trying the after hours account to see how that fares
 
Downloads are fine on IS atm but my latency on WoW is sky high. Had a problem with latency on wow yesterday, but after a port reset it was fixed. Today its back again
 
My experiences with VB are terrible although every1 raves about them on this forum. I get 10-20K on P2P and WoW gives me 2k ping. IS accounts are fine tho and give full line speed but only after 18:45-8:15 and on weekends.
 
Otaku if you pay attention to the raving about VB, you will find out that it is useless for p2p. The people using newshosts are the ones that love it cause we can get 300gigs a month without much of a struggle.

My latency in WoW is pretty much "decent." I get 550ms.

My only issue with VB is that my speed seems to fluctuate at random--it's never stable for very long and dips down into 512kbps speeds every so often.
 
I was wondering if anyone gets consistent/stable speeds on any of the Gold backbones? On my VB account it drops to 1Mbps for a good while before switching up to 4Mbps speeds and even then it bounces a lot before slowing down again. I've been monitoring it, I think VB just has an issue with my spot in the world for some reason because on any other account the speeds are a constant 400kB/s+.

I'm not really keen on switching to the IS backbone (it really doesn't seem to like Skype--which is very important to me--and browsing simultaneously). Wonder if I should bother MrBEEP with this :p

is that pign with downloads running or without? 550 is not decent kind of packages i think :)

or i personally wont pay R700 for 550ms
 
How are you guys finding the interwebz this morning?

I expected decent speeds after hitting the 20% userbase on standard uncapped (it was a lot lower than I had anticipated) yesterday.

Currently updating my Linux distro and I'm getting 9KBps on an intl file...... :o
Local seems fine though.

Without. I'm in Knysna at the moment, also 2km from the DSLAM, so I have about 30-40ms more latency that I would care to think about. The VB backbone also seems to be slightly temperamental in this region, although I've given up trying to figure out why, which is why I've been considering asking MrBEEP if he'd let me try out the different backbones. Although, if the choice is IS or VB, I'll rather stick with an erratic VB.

The thing with the IS backbone is that it doesn't like Skype. Skype is the main reason I even have uncapped. The moment I browse pretty much anything the quality goes red, the last time I tried an IS account Skype even disconnected. I don't know how much faith I'm willing to put into those accounts. I'll also only be able to test Skype later this afternoon (other half is occupied) :)

Yeah, still with IS. It's a lot more stable now than it used to be. And it allows torrents without bitching or moaning.
Skype works fine with IS now btw.... it rarely disconnects.
It's also nice with gaming.... I get a 230-280 ping with LoL as of late.

384 or 4Mb?

I tried it about a week ago for maybe 10 minutes :o

Maybe I should give it another look... But Jeez, so apprehensive :p

I see, I see. I've since moved over to 4Mb :D

Unfortunately, as I said, VB isn't a big fan of mine on 4Mb. It reaches full speeds but it bounces around a lot. Like... a lot and then other times it idles at around 1Mb for a good while before doing the fast-but-erratic thing again. Although, I see that between 05:00 and 07:00 it averaged 420kB/s, so obviously there are times it likes me and times it doesn't :D

I gives teh up :p
 
Just signed with openweb gold i hour ago, paid by my credit card, who knows when should i wait for active the account and receiving loging details? Mweb used to do better, even before you paid they already give you logging details.
