Openweb Uncapped Feedback

My main source is newsgroups- and streaming content... but I've been sitting with a rather large torrent (29GB) since around October :p
Hell man, I don't do newsgroups either. Mainly file sharing sites, Hotfile, Filesonic, Megaupload. Nothing but max speed there, consistently over 900kBps. Occasional Youtube vid is the extent of the streaming I do and there I usually let IDM download the video rather than watching it in the browser and there again it's 900kBps+...

I've tried the file sharing sites - but unfortunately they always time out on my side...

Newsgroups usually fly on Openweb... its just these past couple of days thats been a bit slow.

Free....from various different file share services - got about 10 saved that eventually complete properly.
Sounds like a bit of a mission. Especially the ones that fail. So the timeout issue is related to the host server?

Not sure, you can't use a download manager with most of them these days - and when I get to the PC it says complete, but the archive is correct... hence my preference to using newsgroups.

I don't want to have for premium access to various file sources depending on where the content I'm looking for is hosted.

you can i use jdownloader(this is made for filesharing), you copy paste link, then ask code inside the program and downloads it, you can even chain link rapidshare and will download next one each 30 min , because have waiting period.

has pause function , it will actually resume download , on most filesharing ,even free ones :)

you can limit the speeds etc all of that stuff.

So I moved from mweb uncapped to openweb standard and while it was amazing at first, its now at the point where its practically unuseable during the day (even for basic browsing / streaming). The whole time I was with MWEB i was never throttled like this during the day:

I dont want to torrent or download during the day, I just want to be able to browse, check my email, stream talks and maybe skype occasionally... At the moment I cant do any of that! I'm really not impressed...

I'm also getting mini periods of no connectivity what so ever...

the throtlle hammer it got you :(

the standard uncapped is not that good, not openweb problems is how IS sells it etc, rather pay extra for gold.

E-mail Keoma to find out reason.

Throttle hammer?! You're kidding me? I've only done 50GB this month?!

I pm'ed Keoma over a week ago when all these issues started with no reply, I had only done around 30GB at that point.

throttle is 15gb for 10days, or thats whats email sed from afrihost, (they sell same IS uncapped), not sure if its true.

hopefully its not and mr.beep can sort you out!!

15GB for 10days?! why is that not in the terms of service, mentioned anywhere on the site or included in the account details email. That makes the account absolutely useless for me. The only difference on the openweb site between standard and gold seems to be latency/contention ratios neither of which are all that important to me as I'm not a heavy downloader nor do I play online that much.

clearly states if in top 50% you get trottled somewhere, though some guy emailed afrihost and ask what is trottle limit and that was hes reply, as stated i don't know if its true.

Hmm.. unless something has changed, it's probably not the same IS accounts. Just email Keoma ([email protected]) with your account username and find out what the problem is. He almost always responds to email and will most certainly help you out there.

OW Std accounts are also under that AUP. OW just doesn't tell you beforehand.

I'm definitely not in the top20% yet.... 1) a heck of a lot of people suddenly got the issue, 2)my latency has been up and down all day, but I'm still getting linespeed and 3)I haven't downloaded all that much this month.

First that I hear that the Standard account is throttled. From previous experience the Standard accounts is shaped whether you use 7mb or 70Gb. Shaping also less in the evenings and over weekends.

The Lite accounts use throttling based on usage compared to other Lite users on the same package.
