Openweb Uncapped Feedback

Hi there,

I might want to purchase openweb uncapped 4mb lite, but im not sure if it will fit my needs.

I probably download about 50gb a month... The odd 5gb game here and there. Will I be super shaped if I download from the PSN/Steam?

As long as it goes at a decent speed im happy (I never do P2P).

Thanks

Lite accounts are not for downloading. If your downloading 1 or 2 drivers or streaming a vid its fine but if you download your going to get shaped pretty quickly. Rather spend some more cash and get standard uncapped.

Seems like moving to OpenWeb is the only alternate for me - MWEB is wasting my time
I don't mind the extra cost - as long as I can game internationally, download a little.
How would one get a 24h test account from MrBeep ? just PM ?

What's been going on the last week or two? Speeds have been ridiculously slow! Torrents DO NOT even work for me, I know I'm on a Lite account, but I have been using less than normal and it's terrible! Have a friend on a Gold package and he asked me who to move to as he has slow speeds as well.

Hi squirrel,

If you are having a problem, please email [email protected] so that I can address it for you.

Please ask your friend to do the same.

Kind regards
MrBEEP

MrBeep - could you kindly assist me with a trial account on OpenWeb, I would like to cancel my current ISP (MWEB) and move asap.
I just want stable Int latency, and a good download experience (Im not a hog)

Yeah me too... Seems to be a bit of instability on the entire domestic network at the mo... Just look at whats going down in the Mweb thread...

Noticed. Was about to ask if there's anything up on the Altech backbone. First time since I've been using it (two months) where things are pretty erratic.

Oh well... I can wait it out :D

MrBeep If possible I would also like a trial account please as I am most likely going to get an openweb account end of this month and would like to test it first. I need good latency to overseas (UK) and I do download from news servers (newsdemon). I don't use torrents at all.

I just did, and here's hoping for the best

Have to say still very happy with Openweb. Even not gold account, still very good.

Meh, cant say the same. Keoma gave me a test account to try. Unfortunately, I only had a day to test it, and was out most of the night. But from what I saw, I was getting very poor speeds compared to my Mweb uncapped account. I was planning on moving to Openweb Gold 4mb, but I just dont see what is so special about it. Unless I got a completely messed up account, my mweb shaped 4mb was performing better. I cant justify spending R200 extra on an account that performs worse than a product that costs R539.

Edit: I just tried the test account that Keoma gave me. I didn't think it would work, but it looks like the account still works. I wont be using this account for very long coz I dont wanna get into trouble with Keoma, but here is a speedtest result on the 4mb Uncapped Gold on the vb backbone:

And here is a speedtest with Mweb 4mb Uncapped Shaped:

Hi Looney,

Please mail me, as those figures resemble more a 512k account, which I could've given you by accident. I did that with another client today :(

Done. Sent you a mail, lol, I wouldn't be surprised if you accidently gave me the wrong test account :D lets hope that I get a good working account that can convince me to move over :)

I just wanted to pop in with another small OpenWeb plug.

I keep being completely stunned by the level of service and quick replies I get from Keoma. It is truly refreshing, dealing with an ISP that actually seems to care about keeping your business. Unlike some others I have had to deal with, who sometimes can't be arsed to get back to you in under two days :/

Thanks OpenWeb, I'll keep shoving my hard earned cash your way =]
