Do you get full speed on news servers during business hours as well using IS ?

I switched back to VB, played some BC2 last night, but at one point I got disconnected and kicked for "losing key packets" via punkbuster. Wasn't very cool whatsoever, yesterday I got speeds of 420kb/s plus on NNTP, last night after I mailed MrBeep my speed degraded again to 260kb/s. This morning it did pickup again though and running at about 360-380kb/s. Streaming is still acceptable at this stage, will keep on monitoring it till late afternoon, otherwise I'm switching back to IS.

Nope, Im getting a max 100kb/s during business hours. After 5 it goes up to 150kb/s and around 10pm it goes to 200kb/s. Does not seem to be going over that :(
Streaming at the moment works relatively well and gaming does not have problems. I haven't downloaded anything from HTTP so can't comment on that right now. At the moment my 4m behaves after hours like a 2m account.

That's the EXACT same performance I got with my IS account, 100-110kb/s max during business hours, after 5 it increases to 150kb/s and on rare occasions it did go up to 200kb/s like you say. HTTP wasn't too good for me. VB went like a boss before I came to work about an hour ago, 440kb/s+ and streaming also worked sweetly. Just hope it can keep up that performance though, will test out some games more this afternoon.

Vb is insane, full line speed on anything. Downloading nntp at 330 and got enough spare change to do my work stuffs without any problems

I dunno. VB = Fast NNTP + high latency on gaming. IS = Slow NNTP + Good Latency on gaming If only there was a backbone where both would work well...

What speed are your STEAM downloads during the day?
A few months back I remembe that I could get full line speed during office hours and I thought that was because it's local content.
Now it's just running kuk slow. 12KB/s on 1meg uncapped Gold Plus IS backbone.

Edit: Now it just doesn't download at all. Done 7.6MB of 8054.8MB
Now I can't play I game that I paid for. :(
I was worried that maybe IS dropped my account to dailup speeds again.
But some YouTubing, surfing, downloading from gametrailers.com and speedtest.com are all fine.
Thank goodness.
Looks like STEAM has been grouped together with p2p and shaped/throttled down to dialup speeds during office hours.

Edit2: Some1 from IS on here, cause STEAM is now DL at 90+KB/s. Woohoo!

Things do certainly seem to be slowing down. I havent seen full line speed in a while (but I never expected full line speed all the time). But I just ran a international speed test on my one meg line on IS backbone and here are the results.

Test conducted on 18 August 2011 03:03:23 PM

Download Speed: 57 kbps (7.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 253 kbps (31.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

Latency: 257 ms

Kinda reminiscent of dialup.

Is there a problem VB my news server downloads are going forward then backwards , load axxesslite and it flies forward lol

Oh no Killa, don't say that, haven't had the opportunity this morning to check it out before work, hope it's resolved by the time I get home.

It was odd i loaded up a nzb and it would get to 4500kb/s downloaded then go back to 3200 then up to 5000 then back to 3700 hahahah. Never seen that before. Loaded my axxess account it went nailed it full line speed same nzb.

Also vb smtp is dead any other smtp i can use mrbeep?

@StoneCold what latencies are you getting on VB in gaming? I had bad latencies on VB in Rift. If not for that I would have stayed with VB as the news servers were flying.

MrBeep, please get some glue or tape or something and glue the current settings you have for my account permanently in position...getting full speed on everything. That is just wow. Everything is running flawlessly at the moment. :)

I get insane latencies with gaming hey. League of Legends 290ms from Pretoria to Europe and <60ms to local gaming servers. Pingtests are 190ms and 30ms respectively.

VB is a really crap backbone if your using the internet for gaming. Direct downloads are great but gaming latency jumps up every few seconds causing games to lag and stutter. It also has ZERO support for torrents. Not a very nice backbone if you ask me.

I used to like the IS backbone but seeing that all I can do with it these days, during 8am and 5pm is get onto MYBB, its pretty damn useless. Don't really know if its IS or Openweb thats putting these huge shaping/throtteling systems in but its gotten out of hand.

Hey all

I am on the IS backbone and am having a perfect performance... even during office hours... there is some slowdown between 9AM and 5PM, but speeds have not dropped below 20KBs. I do not game or torrent, so it is based on my browsing, downloading, emailing, teamviewing and skype performance.

I cannot complain.

MrBEEP switched me over last month, and I am still happy with it.

I too wonder what the cause of the varied user experiences on the same backbones can be.

For now... touch nothing... moooooooove away from the control panel.... lock yourself outside...
