Still nothing... sent Mr Beep PM... lets see if I get sorted.......

International browsing is working again now, but no games (that need international) seem to be working.

I can happily download over HTTP but other less bandwidth hungry services are disabled? With Seacom estimating 6-8 days for repairs, this is really really ****ty.

Morning Friends,

If you have an IS account today, there will be little to no international connectivity on your connection during the day. All should restore this evening.

:(

Thanks for the heads up, MrBEEP.

Will it work like this every day?

Hi Voodoo,

It all relies on the availability of Sat3 bandwidth. In the evenings however, international should be fine, as the Office Hours traffic is off the network

How long is this outage going to last?

Seacom has initiated emergency repair procedures to replace the failed equipment. Whilst the replacement and repair itself may only take a few hours they have indicated that the entire process may last a minimum of 6-8 days depending on external factors such as travel time of the ship, time to locate the cable and weather conditions.

You can bet SEACOM's investors are getting rapidly peeved.

MrBeep, is there any chance that you could route traffic for specifically mail.google.com and similar webmail servers during the day? Many of us have migrated to using exclusively internet mail, and are stuck now as a result.

Yeah that would be awesome

Sigh, Seacom has been quite a disappointment... More cable breaks than age in months :(

Please note that with immediate effect the interim capacity that we obtained from SAIX has been significantly reduced due to constraints on their own network. Most customers will not have access to international bandwidth at this point in time. Access to local web sites, Internet banking and e-mail will continue as per normal. We are urgently trying to secure alternative international capacity and we will keep you updated of any developments in this regard.

Does this include us aswell ?

Does this include us aswell ?

Only people running on Mweb's infrastructure.
Mweb logins are now reporting as telkomsa.net IPs due to the SAIX failover that Mweb has.

Only platinum IS has a failover. The rest of us are in the dark :o

Intl only returned later last night for me.
This morning it's okay (for now) but google talk is dead.

No torrents or international games in 3 days. Going to jump ship to another ISP if this is not fixed today.

Hi fneh,

Please don't leave us :)

Please drop me an email, let me see if I can arrange a gamers account for you.

Kind regards
MrBEEP

Yeah please don't leave.
This has absolutely nothing to do with OW ie not their fault but OW is doing what they can for us to get us access.
The only reason why ie Mweb accounts have intl access is because MWeb bought access to SAIX for failover.
