Openweb Uncapped Feedback

Well I've been moved to a Gold account and... http://www.speedtest.net/result/802847179.png

Its still bad. Also tested a torrent with 3500 seeds and got 6.5kb/s average over an hour.

Local pings on the Gold provider are almost doubled. (its about 120ms according to speedtest, 60ms more than than IS), pings to London based servers are up about 60ms as well over what you get from IS (a 30% increase, which is significant). Whatever the new infrastructure in use is, it seems to add a chunk of time to everything. Which might have a lot to do with the DPI technology the new provider talks about on their website: http://www.neology.co.za/products/neoflow/

Neology is who speedtest thinks these IPs belong to, actual routing seems to be going through http://www.ipinx.net/

Edit:

Things have much improved now, getting full speed since 1 am.

Hello,

Please email me: [email protected] with your speed troubles. We will move your account fromour current provider if possible, because they are simply not providing a good service.

All new subscribers from 1 June will automatically be placed on the new network.

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Please mail me so that I can accomodate you for the rest of the month.

Kind regards
MrBEEP

have emailed you 3 times yesterday and still havent recieved any reply??

i like openweb, and we have had good relations in the past. please just ort out tis speed issue.

My OpenWeb Uncapped Express is also not running like usual. I am only getting about 9 to 12 gigs a night where I was getting 15 to 18.

not that I'm complaining, but I can def. see something is not right in the background.

Yip, I totally agree with Gary, I was hoping MrBeep would be able to put enough pressure on IS to at least see us thru to month-end. I have however decided not to move from Openweb as the service is great!

Proff

Well I am a new customer. Have downloaded since Monday morning not a single byte from international news servers...

Whats the point Mr Beep? I already have. They asked for the speed test which I also send. Can you magically flip an switch and bops your uncle it just works? I thought Open Web resells Mweb bandwidth? Clearly they don't or somewhere I got the wrong end of a news story.

Will you be willing to offer a refund? Because I don't want to hang around for a month until you get your network sorted. Been there done that thank you, only to be told to wait another month. I rather a be a capped user and get the bandwidth I pay for to use the way I want than have my ISP dictate through their shaping how I browse, surf and download...

I am not angry, just frustrated, would like a working connection for more than just the My broadband forum...

PS Private message send with my email details so you can find my emails "hopefully" in your inbox.

Hi Friends,

Until we can move from the Internet Solutions network on 1 June, we will try everything in our prower to accomodate you to get the best possible speeds.

I must sincerely apologize for the poor performance of these packages. I was not aware of the fact that Internet Solutions would offer such an inferior product to its resellers.

Question re: p2p speeds

Hi peeps,
I am new on the uncapped scene. Decided to go for openweb because of IS backbone etc.

I believe I have optimised utorrent and so left a torrent to dl last night. The torrent has a huge number of seeders and a seeder ratio of about 4:1.

Woke up to find that the dl speed averaged 4kB/s! I am using 385K line.

Now I know they are shaping the accounts, but surely over night that is just abysmal?

Could anyone tell me, are they ultimately a shoddy ISP, or is it this seacom story. Coz, honestly, if my torrents dl at 4Kb/s during off peak and videos takes hours to stream, then what the hell is the point of uncapped??

Seriously dude....do your research on the forum before complaining about something everyone else is complaining about...and torrents...really? Still downloading using torrents.... :D. That is really funny.

How are speeds after hours on these products? NZB going down at around 8kb max on astraweb account

Stay on topics guys, there are posts about alternative methods of downloads else where.
Mr Beep if im not satisfied with this product is there anyway i can get a refund?

But it's not just the downloading of torrents. I am waiting forever for videos to stream. Last night I tried to watch this clip of the new Bentley (http://www.autoblog.com/www.autoblo...-in-edinburgh-and-the-scottish-bor/#continued).

While waiting for it to load, I finished watching Alan Carr's show on BBC. A full hour later, and the video was still not loaded 100%. I mean, WTF?

At this rate I should have stayed with Afrihost, they really tweaked their Uncapped products in the last 2 weeks to make it better.

And I'm not sure I understand the difference, both are reselling the IS uncapped product, innit?
