Openweb Uncapped Feedback

altech network is not good on p2p or usenet. The speed factor is good all the time on http

I assume RapidShare and MegaUpload are also blocked for you? Just to clarify, I don't use them so it's no great loss to me, it's just a minor niggle that there are sites that are "blocked" on this account.

XFire also originally didn't want to log in, but MrBEEP logged a fault and it was resolved not long after.

Other than that, Altech seems to be pretty much flawless.

I used hulkshare once and it was fine.

Oh no, I don't really use any of them at all. I only even noticed because I wanted a piece of software (a network tool) that was being hosted on RapidShare and couldn't access the site. So I tried MegaUpload (only other I could think of) which was also dead.

It doesn't bug me, I was just surprised that there are actually sites that are blocked on this account. So, in a way it "bugs" me but not enough to really say that I don't want to use the only uncapped account that gives me full-speeds and perfect Skype.

And you weren't kidding about P2P being "not good." It's non-existent. Thought I'd see if I could download the Star Trek Online client (been interested in trying it out). It downloads only via P2P. 0.0kB/s is pretty much the epitome of "not good" :p So I'm guessing I'll never see what STO is like (I'm not interested enough to buy 6GB in prepaid).

hhm altech blocks p2p on there expensive bussiness adsl, maybe they block it on this also?

Would seem to be the case. I would've liked some access to it still though, you know? I mean, I'd rather it be slow than entirely blocked :p

I'm really not complaining in any significant way here--the account flies and it caters pretty perfectly to my needs. It's just the idea of only having access to parts of the internet they want you to that bugs me :p

Anybody know if there are still Seacom / DNS issues?

I'm having an incredibly spotty international connection today. Some things load fine (like youtube, bizarrely) Other things do not (like the Penny Arcade comic and Yahtzee).

Same here 4Meg Gold IS, for some reason my Zero Punctuation never lags, weird, wish everything loaded at that speed.

I'm having trouble with GMAIL and other google services, I'm the standard account but on the BCS network (whatever that is).

I had practically no http conection in the morning ... could not even get the results from a google search ....
I am on standard on the IS network.
Also, have been noticing that the pages do not load sometimes and you have to refresh them to get them to load. Is that normal with these accounts??

Hey Friends,

News just in, there is a Telkom cable break affecting some areas. Telkom engineers are in attendance. ETA: Unknown.

I apologize for the inconvenience caused!

Thx for the info. Really bad week for ADSL it seems

Newsgroup guys - what do you use to download? I was using Alt.bin - but noticed its resource intensive - trying out SABNZBd+ and its moving data fast

you can i use jdownloader(this is made for filesharing), you copy paste link, then ask code inside the program and downloads it, you can even chain link rapidshare and will download next one each 30 min , because have waiting period.

has pause function , it will actually resume download , on most filesharing ,even free ones :)

you can limit the speeds etc all of that stuff.

Quick question - how dow Jdownloader work? I installed it - it picked up a file from filesonic... got the file size, but doesn't do anything more?

oh you need add , you add form 2nd tab(linkgrabber tab), then start downloading in first tab(download tab).

ya altbinz use 20% cpu on my netbook when running full speed o.0

I am having problems with my standard uncapped. can't connect to websites etc. but works fine when I use my WA account.
Seems like mayb its not really a telkom fault, but a openweb problem!!

pretty much completely dead on my side with my uncapped account. Switched to my saix account and all is running smoothly.
Randburg side

Same here, Openweb completely dead but other ISP works fine, so it's not my line.

Gold Uncapped account.

It adds on the linkgrabber side ... and if I click download it goes to the download tab... but thats it....

If I click the little play button - it disables for a few seconds...and then renabled...nothing else happens

Do you have to have a premium account at the file share service?
