4Mb IS Gold
Speedtest results are in the low acceptable range. (About 590 ping to London though :( )
NNTP is (still) down the tubes though. Coming down the wire at around 4KB/s

This after I had pretty much "flawless" internet last night.

hes got 6mb line or more :)

4096/8 512kps max dl speed ( in theory)you can get, but you cant get it on 4mb because of overheads etc.

Not sure about Optimal01, but I'm on a 10Mb exchange, so sometimes, you can squeeze a little extra out of the line, before the ISP catches on, and forces you back down again.

Damn my 4Meg exchange!!!

I'm also getting 600ms + ping to London.
 
So got my port reset, and NNTP is now sitting at round 100KB/s, much, much better than this morning.
It's like I can "see" IS, or whoever, shaping me...download will rocket up to almost max, then sit there for a while, then slowly drop back to a lower speed :( Anyway, good enough for now, I figure.

All the VB users out there, if I were to request a transfer to that backbone, will it negatively affect my gaming? PSN / Xbox / PC?
 
So I'm assuming you guys are still getting funny pings on the local network?

My speeds seem fine (okay, intl is at about 75%, but local is 100%).
http://www.speedtest.net/result/1280776862.png Been getting 100-120ms pings to SGS and MTN Business where it's usually 29~32ms.
Getting 150ms to WAGE where it's usually 50-60ms.
 
My speeds the past week or so have been slow again. I've sent in an email mrbeep via the cp.openweb.co.za. Please make sure to send it to my jake email as I dont have access to my gran's :p

I'm finding my speedtest.net speeds are not consistent with my real world speeds using a download manager. Speedtest.net is returning about 30% of what I'm actually achieving as reflected by my download manager.
 
Do I understand it correctly that there are 3 backbones on Openweb ? IS, Vodacom Business (VB) and Altech ? And IS and Altech is for downloading from torrents, gaming and stuff and VB is purely http:DL and web serving and gaming/locally?
 
**sigh** this is now the second time that I've gotten home to find my VB password has changed, or the account has been disabled... back on Afrihost

I was looking forward to Mortal Kombat Legacy tonight :(

Getting normal pings again. 30ms to games.saix.net and 267ms to London.
