lol. Don't know what it was but a port reset seemed to fix the problem

Guys, the "port reset" thing... is it something I can do myself (and if so how), or must it be done by OW?

You have to send MrBEEP a mail and ask him to do it for you. We can't do it ourselves.

I have found that logging onto another ISP a/c for a few hours and then back to OW has sorted out my problems sometimes in the past. I guess the connection times out or something. Could be just me hitting it lucky. Other times only a port reset helped.
 
Is 96KBps day/night time speeds?I use to get 30-100kbps during the day and 110-320kbps at night.Just wish p2p & apex was up to scrap on VB
whats news servers like on IS?
 
Just once again want to say thank you to MrBeep:

My line was upgrade to 1Mb on Tuesday. I requested my account to be changed to 1Mb Gold, which was done within a couple of minutes. Reset my router and things where not kosher. It looked like my account was throttled to 60kb when downloading http and speedtest.net only gave 11kb on the download test. Mailed MrBeep again and within 30min I got a new account. Things are flying now. Once again shows why I will stick with Openweb. Always fast turnaround when you got any problems.

News servers on IS are fine, assuming you don't use news.is.co.za .... rather get Astraweb or similar.
VB is a business backbone, so there is a good reason why p2p is limited on it.
 
I want to take 1MB Gold . What is your experience with Torrents and Skype ? Thanks
 
Could someone please give me a little more info WRT the 1024 Data only Gold uncapped package.
What shaping policies apply besides p2p, and torrents as i dont use these protocols for downloads.
Obviously there is some shaping on things like R/S amd M/U type sites during business hours, but does it continue after hours and weekends?
Basically want to know if i pay for this product, am i going to see what i am paying for more than 1/3 of the day?

i assume Maestr0 was referring to daytime speeds he was experiencing during the public holiday. i was having a similar experience on altech during the day. tim though says he was getting 400kB/s. I wish some explanation could be placed as to why vb gold has such differing performance?

what is worse for me is why over two distinct periods i had good speeds. then bam, speeds of 50 -150kB/s. no matter what vb account Keoma throws my way, speeds are the same. tbf i doubt it is Keoma's doing.

But I guess if he gets a new batch of cb accounts, I'll have all i want when bam.

I'm not saying I get 400KB/s all the time, though this month my connection has been really great and I rarely get lower that 300KB/s on paid news servers. I also don't use my connection very much during the day (only weekends and public holidays), so its mainly during off peak hours.

You say you are getting between 50 - 150KB/s, what protocol is this on?

Gold is pretty much awesome for everything....
P2P is only an issue on VB. Not sure about Altech, I've never been on that one.
Everything else is fine. Gaming is amazing, latency is epicly low, and downloads are fine too.
 
Anything wrong with the network at the moment? Internet went off about 2 hours or so ago for a few minutes and now my downloads are slow as hell (IS Backbone)

By slow as hell I mean < 1kbs

P2P on Altech is worse than VB. Everything else it's Top Notch though.
 
Internet just went off again for the second time today. Hopefully speeds are back to normal

EDIT: Speed seems to be back to normal
