Well there are the new Afrihost R15.00/GB capped Prepaid available. Maybe worth a try. I think I am going to trial it some.

I have a free 1gb AH account from when they were giving them away, and I usually just topped it up with their R29 topups. I wasn't all too impressed with them, though. I found that for normal browsing, they were much slower than any other ISP I've used before. Opening webpages took much longer than Webafrica or MWEB. Mweb usually had me waiting perhaps two or three seconds if I opened Google, WebAfrica was almost instantanious and AfriHost usually left me waiting about 10 seconds for google to open. I mean, it's Google ffs. Might just be some problem in my area, but it's not for me then.

Been on the VB backbone for about a week now and I have to say: IT SUCKS. Latency is unstable, torrents don't work and browsing is not that great. I was on the IS backbone until I had connection issues. Sent a mail asking to be moved back to the IS backbone. I miss it so :_:

The difference in performance of accounts on the same backbone really surprises. I've been back for a week and am having the exact opposite experience. Yet I have had two previous experiences where any vb account was a dog on my line.

All faults have been sorted.

Please mail me if you are still experiencing slow speeds: [email protected]

I'm having quite the annoying problem. I'm on OpenWeb uncapped Gold+, 1mbit/s with the IS backbone. I can't even check my gmail account during the day, it keeps complaining about a connectivity error :(

Is there a fault at the moment that anyone knows about? Just got moved over to the BCS network. Latency seems to be better than VB but torrents are worse and my direct download doesn't seem to want to start so I don't know what is going on.

EDIT: Got my direct download to start but getting < 1kbs....

Possible websites are timing out big time .

Guys I'm new to the OpenWeb network, coming from M-Web. Just a question, how do you find out which backbone you are on?

Getting 14-15kbs from megaupload on BCS atm... this sucks

At the moment it works out that it takes about 7 hours to dl 330mb

How do I know what backbone i am on?

Here are my speedtest.net results. I have a 1mb GOLD PLUS account. Not getting full line speed through steam at the moment. sits at about 45-50kb/sec

There must surely still be a problem? I can't even get to speedtest.net. Page keeps timing out? Can't confirm which backbone I am on. I am from Durban. Anyone else still having issues?

Last part of my username is @openweb.co.za so which backbone would that be?
