My IS account is doing the same, as is my Afrihost... Cybersmart tonight is just sloooooooooow.

Will try again in the morning, then request a port reset as advised here if no better.

Hmm.. yeah, experiencing the same on IS today. Even had long pauses with DNS lookups a few minutes ago, seems to vary from hour to hour. Gonna swap to my Telkom account for a while.

Used Axxess for most of today to do some gaming. Just could not get anywhere with my Openweb IS account. Seems a bit better now though. (just as I go to bed)

lol, you're joking, right?

Sometimes you get lucky and get someone that actually knows what is going on and what needs to be done, but other times you get someone who only knows they work for telkom and know nothing else.

Anyone else having issues? Speedtest is giving me 0.2Mb/s again..

My speeds are STILL excellent. I think I might just be lucky that there are not a lot of other OpenWeb subscribers around my area.

Do anyone else get shapped to death during the day on the IS backbone?

I don't want to switch over to VB or any other backbone since I get the least amount of ping on IS.

But I'm getting irritated by the 10kbs I get during the day on a 1mbs line :(

Me... I have been... it gets REALLY badly shaped for me during the day.

I get between 2-8kbs on average... with the rare and occasional 15-20kbs spike.

Exact same story this side.

Get between 8 and 16kbs during the day.

Been unable to connect to multiplayer games since about 12pm today, and HTTP downloads cap off at 4kb/s. Steam flies though, and pingtest shows absoilutely nothing wrong with the line, but any servers in BC2 and TF2 give me pings of 999.

Mine has been getting progressively worse over the last few days (browsing and NNTP). Was on VB account, but Keomo switched me over earlier.....still no luck :(

1mb line - Gold Uncapped

So after two more backbone moves I still can't get anything more than half line speed on either HTTP or NNTP traffic.

I suspect the account was to blame so I switched to my prepaid WA account...which got full speed on both. Keoma claims that when he uses the account details he gave me he also gets full speed.

Really confused as to what the issue is now.

Hey Friends,

Please mail [email protected] if you are having a problem.

Iwojima, I have informed you as to what your problem is.
Yes, you have...but the explanation is still not plausible.

For the record:
29 June - I query the new 1mb Gold price point and ask whether I can upgrade from 384 Gold ASAP. You respond that if I confirm before 1pm the next day that I can do so.
30 June - I send you a mail confirming that Telkom has upgraded me and ask you to move me to a 1mb Gold profile. You reply a short while afterwards confirming that this has been done.
1 July to 21 July - I have 1mb speeds and am wholly impressed by the performance of the product, resulting in me urging a number of friends upgrade as well.
22 July to present - Speeds take a steady decline until the account is all but useless for anything but browsing.
25 July - I mail you, you switch me to a few different backbones, reset the port and eventually move me to a different datacenter all together. You then inform me that I'm still on a 384kb Gold profile and that is the cause of my trouble.

There are a few problems with that as an explanation:
1) The slow speeds I have been experiencing lately were FAR lower than what would be expected of a 384kb account.
2) I had 3 weeks of 1mb speeds after you'd confirmed the change to 1mb Gold.

I'm not an unreasonable person, but I can't accept that as the reason for my issue when I know better.

This is all a result of a major misunderstanding.

You paid for a 384k Gold account. A faulty system gave you unlimited speeds (the speed of your line) until it was picked up and corrected. You then contacted us, and I supported as you a 384k client, not a 1Mbps client. Thus, full speed to me was 384k (which was achieved).

I have emailed you requesting you to let me know whether you would like a 1Mbps from 1 August, and be billed accordingly.

I do apologize for the inconvenience. We also cannot afford folks using more speed than they pay for.

My account has been running OK the past week except for on Saturday when I had to use a backup account as Openweb's IS was just dead for me. I don't get full line speed at all when downloading but I am getting around 200kb/s on my 4m and at least I can play games with relatively good pings.

When does OpenWeb debit your account? I need to make a decision on whether I want to keep using the service, and I don't want to have to pay for September as well if I decide not to. Download speeds of 250 bytes per second, no matter if you're throttled or shaped, is not acceptable for me, as it renders services like MyUnisa etc useless. I can't wait 40 minutes for a 2mb pdf to download.
