there is no better uncapped then gold![]()
Unfortunately, due to Telkom refusing to do any sort of upgrades in my area (Randburg) I am limited to 384 only. So I feel speed differences keenly. Yesterday things were fairly speedy on uncapped Gold, today I can only load gmail on the basic version. I am on the VB backbone. At night its okish, during the day my speeds are horrible and plagued by timeouts. Telkom or Openweb? I don't know. Telkom says it's my ISP. Openweb says it is Telkom. Oh how I would love a 1mb line. At least then when it is slow, it will still be faster than this.
what is the reason?
no ports avaible?
over congested exchange?
or do you stay to far away from the exchange?
or is that just the max the exchange can work at .
@Imagine, you sure your Telkom is 100%? Most of the time my problems are with them and the overloaded exchange.
I would think it would, I was on IS and very happy with it, going to BCS backbone now with 1mb, will keep you updated.
How does this Telkom backbone faults work exactly?
Scenario:
"Bob and Koos are on the same exchange, and they live about within 10km from each other. Bob has no problems with his OpenWeb account. But Koos on the other hand, experiences slow download speeds, high latency. Bob and Koos switch to a backup account, everything is fine - full line speed , low latency. They switch back to their OpenWeb accounts and Koos suffers again with the same problem."
All ADSL traffic goes over Telkoms network. If they have a problem it will affect us as well.
I have no grudge towards anyone. I am just trying to understand how Telkom and backbone faults work - how 2 users on the same backbone (IS) and same exchange experience different connectivity.
17:00 and wham. Magically my speed goes up from 6kbs to 100kbs.
Damn SA internet -_- Useless to have internet thats pretty much useless during the day. At times I'm lucky and it spikes to 34kbs...
wow that is odd on VB i have been rocking full speeds all week. Not sure how much i downloaded this week but i am close to having downloaded the entire interwebs i am sure![]()
