Opinions from iPad Users

Soooo jealous of everyone who has one. I played on the one on Vodaword today - you guys are right, it is sooooo responsive!!!! Can't wait till I get mine :D

so, i've had my toy for almost a week now... and the short version is that it's f*ing awesome! Responsive, beautiful to watch and overall a damn bargain for the 5k I paid for the 32GB version. That said, I think it's all about the APPS... There are some gems that add new dimensions of functionality to the device. Right now, my favourite is one called AirVideo, I have a 500GB back end of movies/series that stream beautifully on the device... and all this from a 99c app. There are some super cool apps on the horizon that I can't wait for.

Are there any other early adopters out there?

Asked someone to pick one up for me in the states... If she gets it i will get it on the 7th may!

I've been using AirVideo on my iPhone now for a few months and I love it! Glad to know it's available on the iPad.

I've got airvideo and streamtome on the ipad. Both work great, streamtome can also stream music though which gives it an advantage.

Sooo can't wait to lie in bed and watch my TV series streamed to my iPad. My iPhone is doing the job pretty good already but it'll just be soooo much better on an iPad's larger screen :)

Where are you guys buying the itunes vouchers from? So far I got $50 for +/-R300.

I've noticed the US store is much more complete then RSA.

Best are Mediawob and Maximuscards. I've personally only used Mediawob before. I'm now fortunate enough to have my US iTunes account linked directly to my US PayPal account though - just save a bit on the "extra" fees applied to vouchers by the resellers :)

Can I open a US paypal account with my S.A creditcard?
Thanks rapidblue

Sorry, no. You have to link a US funding source to your PayPal account.
Like assagain said, you can buy vouchers with your SA card though :)

Linking bank accounts to paypal is a dangerous idea. Offshore credit cards ok.

Any way to make the iPad *not* use the mobile site when going to MyBB fora?

Extraordinary- Absolutely Thrilled with my iPad

I live in Durban and I yesterday received my two iPads (1 x 32 & 1 x 64GB) and in all honesty am absolutely blown away, having put them both through their paces today. Without question one must purchase the Apple accessory the Dock Connector to go with it as that way its stands upright on the desktop.

I can understand why it has received negative press in this South AFrica - the distributor (Core) is must be scared of grey imports like mine, and can only be fueling the rumors.

Putting them both through their paces today (I have a US Tunes Store account) - so far:

Connects to my wifi (ADSL 4mb - Airport Base Station) , and two local free wifi spots 100% - trouble free, no issues whatsoever.

Using Apple's Pages app working on documents on the iPad or transferring docs in Word, PDF, between it and the desktop - this can be done in 3 ways, email (Apples beta) iWork.com or iTunes - I use Itunes and the sync is flawless either way.

Using the app GoodReader to open 80mb PDF documents is truly mind-blowing - transfer from the desktop is vis iTunes.

Apples iBooks UI is great adding Amazons Kindle app combined opens up ebook content to a different level.

Some of the apps made specially for the iPad are an absolute delight such as Real Racing and Elements. Early Edition app RSS reader (and I read a lot of feeds) - takes feed reading into a whole new dimension!

Watching movies, podcasts and music is amazing. The sound using Apple's new hi-fidelity earplugs is beyond extraordinary.

I am absolutely over the moon purchasing mine. Apple have produced a winner here its an extraordinary piece of technology.

FYI - I purchased both mine online, using a USA service who tacked on 10% over USA retail. I purchased then using my Verified PayPal account which decited my SA credit card on file. The USA service I used purchased from The US Apple Store. My associate simply collected them from this agency.

I would also highly recommend a good case, but the dock connector is an absolute must.

I cannot recommend an iPad more highly. I have also back ordered the 3 G model through the same US company - having sold the 64 GB wifi model already - which I will replace as soon as the 3G model arrives. What about the 32 gb model? Gave it to my girlfriend!

For those of you interested: the US shopping service I used to purchase my iPads is the same company through whom I purchase my US iTunes Store cards, all through my verified PayPal account (they only use PayPal as method of payment - or international wire transfer via agreement)

http://itunes-giftcards.com/Home.html

They add on a straight 10% to all your US purchases (excluding shipping).

It could not be an easier way to shop. All you do is email them the URL and they send you a PayPal invoice. Once paid they will inform you when the product arrives before they ship it. What's more they will "function control" your product - in this case my two iPads - ensuring they are working 100% - at no charge.

Nice review. Thanx :) I myself am also waiting for the 3G model...
You say Early Edition is pretty good on the iPad? I'm hoping Reeder makes an iPad version pretty soon too :)
