Going to use this 1TB hard drive for backup purposes, nothing more.

I think the invent server grade hardware for a reason.

A R10 000 SSD doesn't seem very cost effective.

Double RAM unless it is pure file server, then you need GA-Z97-D3H (full ATX).
To lazy to check what socket 2011 can do, any comments?
Not sure about your storage option, having no clue about application.

It will be used as a file server / database, decided to not go socket 2011 would be overkill for the needs IMO.

1TB SSD was chosen as it's fast and will provide enough space for the requirements, 1TB HDD is just for backup purposes so nothing special needed there.

No way that SSD will survive the read/write activity which a typical server will require.

Rather get 2 x 500Gb SSD's and set them up in RAID 1. Having a OS fail is never nice.

That hardware does not look applicable to a file server. You should be able to buy a suitable ready built server cheaper.
