I want to order a MacBook Air with 4 gigs of RAM which u can't get here. So i just want to know would the mac store in the US ship here?

The Air doesn't have upgradeable RAM. It's soldered on. You have to order it with 4gb.

Guess its possible but where does it say that?
Messing around i can get a freight cost added to the total to SA.

On each page "This item can only be shipped to a US address."

I also want to know...Maybe Amazon.com is the best option?
Amazon and a service like MyUS?

Not overly impressed with what's under the MBA's hood but the bodywork is amazing. :)

The MacBooks Airs I have checked so far on bhp, can only be shipped in the us :/

They won't ship Apple products to SA, I have tried - this is because Apple insist on this in order to protect the super-profits of their SA distributor.

I doubt it's SA-centric. UK Apple prices often rival/exceed SA's, esp now that VAT there is at 20%, so I'm sure they'd love to be able to buy from the US.

Yes, I'm sure that it is also there to protect other inefficient distributors.
I don't think there is anything inefficient about Apple's UK operation. ;)

BTW UK prices for the 11"MBA are R750+ higher than here in SA :o

Hello. It is very possible to get the laptop to South Africa. I used http://myus2.myus.com/Programs/?myuskd=on websites&id=60007 to get a US address, and then they forward it to you. It cost USD 10 to sign up and then you have your USA address. I havent had any problems with them, and they keep me up to date with my last order. The only draw back is that you pay for shipping twice. Another good thing is they only use Fedex and DHL or something, which means it gets here fast. Hope this helps.

Looks like a cool service. Out of curiosity what was the total cost for shipping?

Yes, you pay shipping twice, but the US shipping is cheap and sometimes free.

I haven't used MyUS, but I think that I am going to try them - there are many shops, including Amazon (excl DVDs, books) that will not ship to SA.

Hello! Um, on their website you can see how much they charge, it all depends on the weight really. It works out cheaper anyways than to DHL / Fedex the thing yourself. If I want to send something of say 3kg overseas, its gonna cost me about ZAR 2000 something, but with them its like USD 140 or something. So it is worth while.

Ordering from US

I have tried for more than 60 days now - used Myus.com (as a freight forwarder, tried to Buy from 6 Mac Shops in the US - they accept your money - and then realize that they have agreements with Apple Inc... and are not allowed to send outside USA, or the freight forwarders - I have a friend that is collecting for me and then shipping on - if you want to add Money to share the Cost private message me the details of what you want... it brings my cost down too.....

Thanks for the offer chris but I might get a core i5 or another laptop entirely. I'm really disappointed with apple in sa for not stocking the 4 gig MacBook air.
