OT: ANC Elective Conference

He probably is, Zuma has served his purpose and has nothing left to offer Ace and Mabuza. If anything he's going to be a liability for them if he stays in office and they lose the general elections. Plus they would have direct access to the Guptas without having to go through him...

I would expect the Guptas to be properly hamstrung if they attempt to stay in this country. They are one very public problem that Cyril will have to deal with in a very harsh manner I think.

Either way Zuma loses. He has nothing to offer them that they can't get themselves now that they are in the top 6. There's no reason to waste their time protecting him from prosecution...

That much I think is a given...

If Cyril wants to show he is immense backbone and wants the country to succeed and and and, then making sure Jacob is prosecuted would be top of his to-do list for the next few months... but of course there are political games to be played as well so that might not be the top of his to-do list just yet.

I don’t know where that thing of DD and the Guptas comes from.

Ace is linked to the Guptas, Supra more or less. DD absolutely not, he has a lot of dirty laundry but the Guptas are not one of them.

Unless Zuma decides to stop being a tease and does open the can of worms he promised way back when. He has the SSA doing his bidding in the form of Fraser and you'd have to think Fraser has bushels of secret recordings implicating the likes of DD/Ace/Supra. DD is the only one I have yet to hear a direct link to the Guptas though, but he may be implicated in the assassination of at least 10 whistle blowers to corruption in MP.

Still, what does Zuma have to offer anyone anymore? What motivation would Fraser have to release anything on Zuma's instruction? He has no real power anymore. Fraser would probably align with the new centre of power because it serves his interests better...

The only sway he has is reminding them if he is going down he is taking all them with him. So it'd be in all of their interests to keep out of court and jail.

#ANC54 With confirmation now that the national steering committee is in a meeting to discuss possible discrepancies with the numbers – North West premier Supra Mahumapelo says if the matter goes to plenary – he has a mandate to call for a re-vote of all top six positions.ZN

#ANC54 Mahumapelo says while he has a mandate to call for a recount if the issue goes to plenary - his personal view is that a re-vote is taking a risk because it's a secret ballot and it would have to be for all top 6 officials.ZN

OP has been updated.

Personally hoping for a revote just for the SG position, because 68 new votes may change the outcome drastically. However, even if he doesn't win, Mchunu is almost a shoe-in for Ramaphosa's cabinet as Education Minister, given his extensive experience and no-nonsense approach.

The ANC Women's League was due to have a press briefing at 10:00, but was postponed due to the urgent sitting of the ANC's steering committee over vote counting.

The dispute centres around the 68 missing votes from the final delegation tally. Supporters of Senzo Mchunu, who lost the position of secretary general by 24 votes to Ace Magashule, have questioned the process over the role these votes have played.

News24 has learnt that the votes were "quarantined", as those who had cast them were not on the party's official list of 4 776 delegates.

Holy ****. How is this possible?

fkt, I can see this whole thing being overturned in court.

how many ****en lists were there...sweet lords..."quarantined" :crylaugh:

How do you quarantine a vote for not being on the list of delegates?

How do you tell a piece of paper with a few crosses on them, were from someone not on a list?

Ha ha ha ha!

How corrupt, you ask? ANC corrupt - in other words, as corrupt as you get!

If true, it means that the entire voting process was a sham.

According to News24 sources with knowledge of the voting process, the dispute centres around the votes of 63 delegates.

They were voting delegates, but their names weren’t found on the voters’ roll.

They were allowed to vote, but their votes were kept separately. Ultimately, their votes were not added to the final tally.

The Ramaphosa camp claims that they were all CR17 votes, that would have taken Senzo Mchunu past Ace Magashule for the position of secretary general.

The dispute has now been referred to the plenary

North West ANC chairperson Supra Mahumapelo threatens to ask for a complete re-vote of all positions if a recount is ordered.
I don't think he understands what a recount is. The ballets are supposed to be kept in safety for recount purposes. 24 votes difference isn't much and it can easily change if they didn't count certain votes.

How did they not have the voter's roll updated and printed out once all delegates were confirmed to be at the conference?
