Hi Gents,

I just got Telkom fibre installed in my area. What isp's can i use over the Telkom network? Can i only use Telkom for the fibre infrastructure?

thanks

Lucky you - I'm still stuck in the Light Pink Area of Oude Westhof. Where in Oude Westhof are you?

Vox, Web Africa, MWeb, Telkom - any one who resells Telkom Fibre. Some might need more convincing that you are actually fibre enabled than others (if it is not showing on their version of the coverage map).

My first choice would be Vox.

Cheers,
D

Any ISP - really.

Telkom fibre is operated over IPC just like their ADSL network, so from an ISP's perspective there is no difference...

Awesome, thanks a lot.

Called lightspeed for their pricing, seems high and not monthly yet. Checking the webafrica prices as well but they want upfront payment now to order installation etc which i would rather pay on installation, not now. Will check and see what vox has to offer.

Im near Pinot noir street, Millenium mews close vibe.

Lightspeed is not a Telkom FTTH product.

All you need is to contact any ISP - as the CEO of Crystal Web, I'd naturally suggest you hop over to our website and talk to an agent on live chat for assistance...:)

I was hoping to title the post "the fastest fibre installation ... IN THE WORLD" but seems it won't be...

I ordered from ISPAfrika with Garth on Monday morning (he and his team is doing a stellar job icon14.png). Got a phone call yesterday from Garth telling me that installation will happen today (4 days nogal).

But, it was not to be... When the Telkom tech arrived this morning - all kinds of problems:

Another team from Telkom is supposed to pull the fibre from the manhole to my house
AND, seems that the Fibre "box" in the manhole is not setup correctly and now the fibre contractors need to sort it out (Fibre needs to be marked and readied for splicing, or something)

Let's hope...

If one takes an ADSL package over fibre, how does the cost for rental work? I'm not referring to analogue rental since that's excluded anyway. Do we pay the same price we would for e.g. a 4Mbps ADSL line or is pricing different?

Not quite sure I understand the question here.

There are two aspects to your connection:

1) the line and associated line rental
2) the data package

So the line rental for a fibre product is at set pricing over Telkom. If you purchase a 4Mbps uncapped account and operate it on a 100Mbps fire line, it doesn't mean the line will only be billed as a 4Mbps line. The two are separate costs...

Okay that clears it up. Thank you

Finally!

After just more than a month, my Fibre line is up and running.

VOX DSL Data working like a charm and at full speed on the 100mb line...

lucky buggers, i'm around the corner in Protea Valley, with my back wall on Welgedacht and there is no Fibre planned yet for us...
