He didn't just express outrage, he passed judgement on the situation before knowing exactly what was going on.

Yeah, those kids were so oppresed. I guess I was also oppressed then, I had many a teacher tell me what I can or cannot do.
 
The whole online admission system was a failure, right from the outset. Let's leave the techinical issues and looking at the real issues at hand. Firstly, the system is not being used by black people from locations. In fact, the department received less than 20 admissions from this sector to date. While a larger number of white people used it, most of this sector registered their children at their schools. Schools are now being forced to register all children for the following year on that system. So, the system is not really the success it was made out to be.

Secondly, the purpose of this system is to ensure that more black children are moved into predominantly white and Afrikaans speaking schools. What few people know, is that since last year, the department sent a team of people to measure the size of all classes in all schools in Gauteng. Lesufi believes that every class should have around 45 children. Bigger school classes should accommodate more children.

His problem at this point in time is that many black parents' children are forced into these schools and the children are not doing well - at all. Gauteng school principals received orders that children from Grade 1 - 6 will not be failed. They have to be promoted to the next grade, irrelevant of marks. There is a reason for this. The children do not understand what they are being taught, especially so in Afrikaans schools, but even so in English speaking schools. You cannot force these children into these schools. They need basic education in their own languages and the other languages will come naturally later in their years.

Problem with Lesufi and the ANC is that they do not have sufficient educated, knowledge or experience to run a country, let alone an education system. This is something that has already backfired in their faces, but will only get worse as time goes by.

Nope, take a step back. He was tweeting about the cupcake saga long before he got there. Then he mad more twitter statements. The he made a media statement that a panel or whatever would be set up to deal with the issues "identified" and a timeline of 21 days, as with the hair incident.

My question is, he is very quick on the race trigger, which left him with egg on his face at least once. Why don't we see follow-ups and reports of these committees he has set up? Or was there nothing? Give me the official conclusion to the cupcake saga? I searched for it, even on his FB page. It does not exist, or is not in the public domain.

"Cupcake saga" talk about being overly dramatic. Do you work in the media?
 
The whole GDE project was an epic mess. Granted that Lesufi is not to blame for it, but the IT supplier not being able to write a simple website without their database falling over every 5 minutes due to load.

I find it bizarre that he is promoting "digital schools" using digital whiteboards and tablets when the majority in learners are still sh****ng into pit-toilets and their schools have no running water. This is just another example of a prestige project for already privileged areas (read: where schools have running water, electricity and sanitation). The vast majority of under-serviced continue to be the status-quo of being poor, illiterate, unemployed - just the way the ANC wants to keep their voter base.

I don't think much came out of the creche/cup-cake issue or any other issue where Lesufi sprung into action - all of it was IMO nothing more than keeping the focus on electioneering.

Despite having a National Development Plan and the whole "back to basics" programme I am struggling to understand why all the departments constantly steer off course...

He didn't even use an IT supplier. He used his own in-house team.
 
And at what point do we move on from the race thing? i mean - its almost been 23 years.... We cant always use race.

Never. Ever. Africans do not get over such things, unlike the Western countries who picks up and move on again. Race is something that can be used to blame for many, many things and create that entitlement and get spoon-fed for all eternity. Race will stay an issue until the human species no longer exist.

Guess the Jews are not Western then? Quite a few of my brethren also still p[issed at the English for the CCs. I think a quick Google will reveal a few more. But yes, very easy to put you in the spotlight with a dead horse.

They're technically not, considering that Jerusalem is a middle Eastern country, which by definition isn't Western. So they probably don't follow all the Western Ideologies

In the newspaper article I linked to earlier, it was clearly stated that 20 abandoned schools in townships around Gauteng have been identified for revamp and upgrading. One such school in Mndeni, Soweto has been completed state of the art tech, sports fields and all.

Its all well and good, but as you say, they're full of state of the art tech. How long will the stuff remain on the school grounds, and if it disappears how will the school operate?
