Panyaza Lesufi

I explained in my first post why he is terrible in this job. Many people in this thread are confirming what I said.
This thread is nuts. It is filled with racist white neo-liberals who are hell bent on undermining any think meant to improves the lives of black. See that is Panyaza's crime. This tread would not have any issue with him is he was a white man's lap dog.

Lesufi is:

  1. Wasting money by trying to implement first world solutions in a third world environment - we really need to get back to basics.
  2. Divisive and politicizing education. Politics should not be anywhere close to young children. He is also making race a very big issue in schools.

  1. God forbid that someone built a cricket pitch in poor school. How could anyone give tablets to the poor students. That stuff should the reserved for white spaces.
  2. He never talks politics. You are just wrong. You clealy have an agenda and are youing this fib as a pretext to attck the man. "He is also making race a very big issue in schools". that is because race is already a big issue. Are you sugesting that the MEC is responsible for all these racist incidents we see. lol. Are you not putting the cart before the horse here?

You are what is wrong with South Africa. You accept and encourage mediocrity because politically correct things are being said. The ANC has groomed people like you to toe their line and let them get away with stealing everything right out from underneath you. You also go on to attack the very people paying for that mediocrity.
Mr Lesufi is any thing but mediocre. And did you just accise him of theft?

You are a self professed lover of black people.
You make it sound like this is a wrong thing.

Can you not see that everyone here wants education to be improved?
No i can't. All i see are a bunch of man babies who feel threatened because school girls dared to stand up for thier rights.

As for the rest of the post, the hogwash wearied me...

Well, if he is the one responsible for that silly tablet shambles, I'd guess he is less than mediocre.

PS. Still waiting for your response on "norms and values".

Why are you people vexing me? I will answer your question when I feel like it.
RULE OF THUMB: I don't have time for stupid and frivolous questions

White people don't have lapdogs, we don't speak as a collective. For that you have to look at the pseudo-commie leadership of the ANC where even the smallest amount of dissent is frowned upon, which also explains Zuma cos no-one who values his membership is allowed to question or say anything about the thievery, ruin and destruction.

It's not about the tablets fool, it's about education. And if you waste money on fancy expensive non-working solutions there'll be less for what matters.. real education.

Also pray tell how exactly does one group of school girls standing up for their rights to not conform to accepted school rules further anyone's education?

Still doesn't explain how burning 50 schools furthered black education..

And I'll vex you when I feel like it.

Hardly a frivolous question - I'd genuinely like to understand what norms and values you take issue with, and what ones you would prefer. But I fear you are just ducking the issue as usual, as you have no answers for me, just a resentment.

Why can't I speak my own language?
Why should I straighten my hair in order for it to confirm to white notions of neatness? Why should there be an expectation that I should be eloquent in a European language?

  1. Giving expensive tablets to any school kid is stupid if you are not planning on having them keep it.

Is it part of the education departments strategy that students should keep them?
Obviously not. If it were would you be the first one complaining about the expense and that they should save by making the tablets reusable rather than given away.

And so we come back to everyone's original point. The tablet exercise was stupid and a failure.

If Lesufi was in private industry he would have been fired. Having 20% of his stock go missing, is beyond atrocious.

For reference, a retail store in the worst of areas would consider 5% a terrible/fire-able stock loss figure.

In which world is giving students access tablets stupid. Are you seriously comparing a school to a retail store?

Well they aren't giving them tablets are they? They are trying to get them back, 20% of them to be exact.

And its stupid because it just isn't practical. Students in townships don't even have proper electricity connections at times but you want to give them a tablet?

KISS. Give them textbooks like everyone else, they don't run out of battery.

Fair enough on the first two. On the third, if you are at an English medium school, some level of fluency is hardly unreasonable ( not necessarily eloquence ). Else you are going to get nowhere. If you wish to be schooled in a black language, you must get the Govt. to set those up, and provide texts and exams and so on in that language.

I fear though that such schools would not be that popular amongst the black population, judging from the efforts many parents go to to get their kids into ( historically white ) ex-model-c schools.

Jesus, you really are not very bright. Do you think it is good to roll-out technology that does not improve learning outcomes? How about rather using that money to fix leaking schools, or put in more toilets, fund books, build more schools, give teachers the support they need to teach, etc? You know, the basic human rights stuff, the kind of stuff that comes before the need of an electronic device. Here is a hint: Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.

It's not about cricket fields or a white agenda. I worked on Lesufi's hair brained scheme. I sat in on the briefings and listened to them fumble around their stupid plans with crater sized holes in them. When the questions get too hard they close the meeting. If they cannot answer the questions or drive the people who are supposed to deliver the solution, how do you suppose it will get done? I tried to talk them through their idiotic requirements that are not really technically possible.

But you know everything. So we are all wrong.

Does your post imply that it is Panyaza's fault that tablets are missing and some reported as stolen or is it merely highlighting one of his success stories?

I am giving facts that his stupid idea as predicted turned out to be stupid.
