Parquet flooring

It's a messy job ... best done by a professional.

Looks great once it is sanded and sealed properly.

Don't have a reference, but just know that a professional does it quickly and you need to be out of the house for that night as well.

In our old house we removed it and replaced with tiles ... what a mistake!

My mate did his own, the lounge part was covered by wall-wall carpet which we pulled up. He got rented one of those large orbital sanders and then sealed it. Really looks lovely, way nicer than tiles.

We used these guys....

http://www.finnessflooring.co.za/

They did an excellent job and it has lasted for more than ten years... and will last for many more I suspect.

The only issue was the red dust ended up on some of the walls, but we were in the process of re-painting anyway so it was not a bother to us.
But you might want to protect the lower parts of your painted walls somehow.

The problem with my flooring is all the blocks are loose and will need to be reglued. But iv seen some redone floors and they are so beautifull. New parquet goes for around 800 - 1200 sqm .

800-1200/sqm... omg... I HATE parquet flooring with a passion! :p

I got quoted R220 per square for 50m2 to sand, polish and high quality seal my existing flooring. This was just a telephonic quote and includes fixing any irregularities or loose blocks.

Hi all,

I know this topic is quite old, but I came here earlier this year to look at the advice on restoring my parquet floors.

I used a company called ADP Flooring and was completely scammed by them. They took our deposit and then didn't want to do the work.
They said if I wanted my money back I should sue them. And to be honest, It will probably cost me more to sue them than the money they stole.

I just wanted to inform everyone so that someone else doesn't fall into the trap.

Hi, I just had my wooden floors sanded and sealed....I'm now stuck with a problem where the floors turn white when it gets humid. What is causing this...How can it be fixed?

Sorry know nothing about Parquet flooring, just love it. From the photo it looks like a waxy residue?

That's the wax coating. Just buff the wax in a bit more and the white haze will go away.
