Pastel and windows 7

There must be some or other configuration somewhere in the software itself.
 
Yup but knowing pastel it will be really hard to configure so they can maintain their technical contracts and high call out fees :D.
 
Cant email with windows 7 and pastel

If someone who has got support can post the solution as Pastel wont help you unless you have paid for support which over 5yrs and never needing support until instances like this you can imagine a total waste of precious money. I have installed windows live mail I have microsoft office outlook and neither seem to work. It starts emailing but just stays there with windows live. microsoft outlook doesnt like it either.

Can someone please help. This is one reason why if I could move I wouldnt be using pastel as their support charges are expensive when you just need a lil advice or support and you have to pay for a 5min conversation?

tried it last night and no go :-( It tells me i must check to see if im requiring a 32 bit or 64 bit version and then contact pastel. Could i maybe upgrade to a version that works with windows 7 thats not their latest version which costs R7000.00 !!!!!!

Which version of Windows 7 are you using?

The version of Pastel Partner I was told we needed was at least Version 10 with Pervasive Version 10.
That version works without any changes to the User Account Control.
Version 5 may be just too old to even work with Vista.
I've heard that versions 8 and 9 will work on Vista and Windows 7 if you disable UAC.
We got the whole Bundle of Pastel Partner Version 10 with manufacturing and multi-warehousing for R4805 on upgrade. so it is not as bad as R7000.
You should be able to get the express version even cheaper. Find out if you can do an "upgrade" and save.
Let me know if you want me to give you the name of the dealer we work with.

7 basic.... i think if i could purchase the Pastel My Business - R790.00 it's all we need really i think ??
So, I was thinking, I could restore pastel using an old pc and then finish the year end on there.
If i get the new package, I can transfer the balances to the new one.

AFAIK My Business is different from the Xpress range, a sort of accounting-made-easy package for people that is not professional bookkeepers. Rather go for Pastel Xpress Startup, if you don't need multiple companies. I found that Accounting Direct is far cheaper that other dealers, never dealt with them but seems quite legit.

Ja, just check the compatibility between versions as the poster above said. Make sure you are getting the version you need.

Also... is it not possible to install Windows XP in a Virtual Machine and run the old Pastel under Virtual Windows XP on your new Windows 7 computer?

Please can someone help, we are using Pastel Express 2009 V10.1.3 installed with Windows 7 and we can't change the font size inside the program. Pastel Support says we must upgrade to V11.1 for R900 because that feature is not available on that version of Pastel. Does anyone out there know if we can do this without the upgrade?

After having issues with Windows Mail on Windows Vista whereby it doesn't open attachments from the from the mail message without first opening the message.
Installing Windows Live Mail 2011 worked well for this as I couldn't find a solution for the Windows Mail issue.

After experiencing the same problem with Windows Live Mail 2011 with Pastel Partner - and no solution on the web, I called the support staff at Pastel.
According to them; they only support Microsoft Outlook and Windows Mail. They do NOT support Thunderbird / Windows Live Mail.

After tinkering a bit, we noticed that some of the suppliers purchase orders sent from Pastel was some going through and the rest bouncing. So we then found out that they supplier PO that did go through was added to the Contacts of Windows Live Mail of the user. When exporting the supplier details from Pastel to a text file -> importing to a csv -> cleaning up the unneeded data and importing all suppliers email address into Windows Live Mail, the PO started being mailed out.

Hope this helps someone else as well.
 
Pastel is a very interesting and if not very irratating program to work with.
I know, I deal with it enough.
