Hehe this should bring back memories of a similar thread a year or so ago...

Anyway,

My money is on Lambie. Sure he isn't as experienced as Mornè when it comes to big games. But he has played against the best in the world and I'm more than convinced he has what it takes to be the next super hero in the Bok squad. When I'm saying this I'm talking about a complete flyhalf. Everyone has his pro's and con's.

But given a choice between these 2 I would field Lambie above Steyn currently.

What do you guys think?

He had a very good season in France. I just personally won't play him there because of that HUGE boot of his. If he didn't have such a huge boot I would also field him on Flyhalf.
 
I feel you have to view them in combination: So my question would then be

Morne & Ruan / Fourie vs Sarel & Lambie / Ebersohn.

My money is on Sarel & Ebersohn, with Lambie / Frans on fullback - but I do feel they have to be given enough time playing together before we actually judge their performance.

I think Ebersonh has a very good rugby career ahead of him. I just don't think he is "mature" enough for that spot yet. And by Mature I don't mean age, if I was Lambie would still be playing club rugby :D

Peter Grant is miles ahead of Lambie. he is more experienced and plays a solid flyhalf position.
Lambie is still young and inexperienced and needs game time to develop his game. he should be a good player next season if we use him properly.
we just cannot take these inexperienced youngsters to the WC. we will get slaughtered the way the Aussies did.
Apart from one trick pony Morne there is nobody consistent as him except Grant.

Morne sure can kick.
We will need Mr Reliabilty to get us the 3pointers come world cup.
 
I like morne but there is no harm in trialing lambie out during the tri nations. After last weeks performance bring in lambie!!!!!!

The inexperience of a young player is what makes them so exciting to watch. I remember that game against Australia that Frans Steyn almost won single handedly when he was just a small kid. Lambie has the flair to do what Steyn did back then. That little kid has more talent than half of SA put together. But allot of the younger guys of today does. Look at Ebersonh.

Might not be a bad idea. He just needs to get back into "Southern Hemp." rugby mode...

+1. BUT he was poor last week. I do however feel that had he been behind a better pack of forwards and had a better scrummie on the day on his inside, he to would have look a lot better :)

We have been for a while and we continue to be somewhat limited in the flyhalf birth. Possibly the most important player in the team, let alone the back line, is the flyhalf and we don't have any of any great significance.

In a close, tight game I would choose the precision boot of Morne but in a loose, running game were we likely to get a 20 point or more hiding, like tomorrow against the AB's, it's going to be exciting to see what Lambie brings to the table.

Agreed - which is why I was excited about tomorrow. Remember when Steyn started? Phenom! Now, let's see if Paddy O'Lamb can step up - I think he can and I think we are wasting an opportunity not playing him at 10.

He can only play good rugby under a good pack. if our pack does not dominate we will look very ordinary.

Correct and i would not let Butch set field on the field the way he plays

Just Joking :D I get that you replied to my last question. I hope that butch can do the same as what he did in 2007 and peak just at the right time.
 
Butch tackles like Hendry Honiball back in the day. Hard and crunchy like fresh kelloggs corn flakes.

Nothing much else to write out about his game, just his sheer physical presence....not enough in my book to pencil in his name in the squad!!!
