More importantly thet are quick to respond to queries and even call you back, I tested by loging a request to change a detail on my account and within 30 minutes they called me on my mobile to verifiy my request and security details.

you also need a US Bank Account linked to it
 
I have successfully been trading online for the past three months without PayPal or a merchant account or a foreign bank account.

My online partners sent me a pre-paid Debit card that I have been able to use at all SA ATM's and POS machines. Anybody who has a credit card, US Bank account or PayPal account can load money onto this card.

I'm loath to divulge the details of this company, but if you do enough research online you'll find them the same way I did. Your life will change!
 
I think the reason PayPal is banned in SA is that it would be difficult for the state to practise legal theft (read Tax) on paypal accounts.

I use Setcom.com and it has to do the whole FICA thing with you (more violating than an enama) and also does the tax on the fly. That way ghowahmant is sure to make money from everything.
 
I also feel that the sooner our economy is put into Auto the sooner it will fix itself. Driving an economy in Manual is just stupid.

paypal is not banned in SA , just limited
 
Sorry, I meant paypal receiving money is banned. I know quite well that it is not banned from being used for payment - it was a few years ago. Since then my credit card has been hit hard by paypal as I buy a lot of junk from Hong Kong over eBay :)

theres many methods of getting it to work in SA but costs alot:o
 
The Methods Are Not Cheap At All And Involves A Merchant That Will Take A % Of All Your Sales And You Pay A Setup Fee Of Close To $50 So I Would Not Advise It

How reliable is this and whats the costs involved?
I just looked up both services and the pricing confuses me. (as well as the reputability of these establishments)

You should be careful that you don't leave too much money on the prepaid credit card. What if they go bankrupt which is an ever greater risk these days.

With this method you still have the 2.5% foreign currency conversion fee. No?

Are there any limitations on the amount one can transfer using this method?
 
Don't even think about opening a fake US PayPal account, just troubles all the way, like getting your account frozen and ALL payments you made reversed with all your accounts that you paid for with PayPal canceled!! They do check up on customers believe me. Don't even try to go down that path

Just accept that we live in a country that has these strict regulations. They aren't necessarily always bad

Who said anything about a fake paypal account? What do you mean by a fake paypal account? One using a US address for a SA citizen?

As a US citizen there is no problem having a paypal account. I don't know what the situation is for a SA citizen. Regardless, one could always go through a family member or friends US paypal account.
 
On this subject.

I use paypal as a SA citizen for many years now. It is true, one cannot receive any money. I overcame this issue by having a partner in US open the paypal account, and now I even have a paypal debit card allowing me to withdraw cash at any SA ATM. The only drawback is, if the US partner does not want to continue with this arrangement, then I am back to q1.
 
Hey,
First off, Paypal allows us to RECIEVE money in our South African paypal account, however you cannot withdraw it,you have to use it online again.

Secondly, Why dont you guys go the easy route and open a 'NON US RESIDENT BANK ACC it works at the ATM in South Africa and you can recieve money from teh USA?
It takes roughly 2-3 weeks to process and you dont have to be american to get it :)
