PayPal Help

Hey,
First off, Paypal allows us to RECIEVE money in our South African paypal account, however you cannot withdraw it,you have to use it online again.

Secondly, Why dont you guys go the easy route and open a 'NON US RESIDENT BANK ACC it works at the ATM in South Africa and you can recieve money from teh USA?
It takes roughly 2-3 weeks to process and you dont have to be american to get it :)

Can you open it online , with a bank like citibank or bank of america ? I hope you not talking about the etrade account ?

Just a quick note on AlertPay...

They had their Mastercard processing facilities suspended by mastercard...
They still IMO are the easiest way of getting money into SA from overseas transactions, but if they cant process Mastersards, then its a mess. They are trying to sort it out though...

one problem with these SA bank Prepaid card it doesn't work Online like the US and UK Europe debit cards

You can phone theme and ask to remove the restriction

I got mine today, Works on all online shop and axxess:D

Link it up with paypal and it works but the problem is when someone puts money via paypal they charge 2.5% and the card again takes 2.5%

eg R100 from my friend paypal to mine, they charge R2.5 and on my debit card again 2.5% of R97.50 which is 2.47 now I have R95.04..

Still worth it. No risk.

Hi Ismail TM

Please can you confirm some online shops where you are able to use this card? Does it include international shops? I got a Bidvest Bidsave VISA debit card. It works, but only partially. I got it verified at Paypal, and can make payments via Paypal. But other online transactions are hit and miss e.g. neither Neteller or Moneybookers would process my transaction using this card. An online game I play, which requires a monthly subscription, accepts transactions via the card. I have called Bidvest, and they say that the card is not set up for online usage, despite having a CCV number. I've applied for an FNB VISA cheque card in the mean-time, but the ABSA pre-paid card seems like an easier solution.

1 thing bugs me,
absa Silver Credit Card didn't work on Telkom.
I tried to pay the shop phone bill but rejected...

Are you sure you used the correct billing address and name as it apears on the card?

I believe some places verify the address and some don't, so that might be part of the problem.

Hi NathanCrow

Haven't tried the ABSA pre-paid but can confirm that the Bidvest Bidsave card works on Paypal. I got mine verified, and can transact anywhere via paypal. With other on-line merchants it is hit and miss. With some it works, with others it doesn't.

I also picked up an FNB Visa Cheque Card earlier this week, and it works exactly like a VISA credit card, and is accepted by both Paypal, Moneybookers, and all other online merchants who accept VISA. A pre-requiste is that you have an FNB current account. Standard Bank and Nedbank offer similar cards.

If i use a site to make money, can they transfer the money into my paypal account if it is a South African account? I probably won't withdraw the money but keep it in the paypal account. I was just wondering if the South African accounts receive money from overseas accounts?

The only possible way for you to get money into that account from abroad is if you have an overseas credit card that has been linked to the account. There is no other way at all. You can't withdraw it into a local bank account at all.

Aunt lives in the states.. Thanks for your help..
anyone know when this problem is going to be resolved?
