PC Link Computers: Legit?

PCLinkshop co.za or .com? .Com is imported stuff, while co.za is normally local stock. I see nothing wrong with listing an item when you have a supplier for it - that is simply how things work in the online space. While they have no control over their suppliers' (in)ability to provide stock, they should've been in contact with you when their supplier moved the goalposts.

Be glad that this happened to you with pclinkshop and not with e.g. Raru... 6 Weeks for a refund seems to be the norm. My latest order with pclinkshop reached day ~2/3 without any indication of shipping (understandable due to the post lockdown frenzy), so I canceled my order and got a prompt refund - fairly painless.

How did you get a refund? Just looked on the order page and I don't have an option to even ask for one?

I was just about to post to this forum today, but I see you've beat me to it. I ordered a hard drive on their site that no one else seemed to have in stock, not because of price reasons. This wasn't long ago, on Sunday evening actually, but since then the order has been stuck on processed so I emailed on Monday asking just a general question of how long it should take to change from processed to shipped - no response at all still.

Is it meant to tell you when something shipped or has it already shipped? Does anyone know? Or am I just going to randomly get it? I'm in Gauteng so the shipping should be the quickest, but I'll probably give them till Friday and if nothing changes or I get no responses then I'll cancel my order. Disappointing really, I know it's still Lockdown but every other online shop is working flawlessly so I see no reason - especially not for the lack of communication. Sumesh, at least you got a reply on email and we emailed on the same day!

On top of this, the very next day I saw the item I ordered go from in stock, to out of stock, to not even being listed on the website so that scares me a little bit...
I suggest you give them a call to avoid your time being wasted. A full month went by from date of my order. I a sure I would not have received any correspondence from them if I hadnt enquired.

Thanks for the response. I tried calling but because of Lockdown they say they're on such skeleton staff that they can't even have one person answering the phone? So they say they only reply to emails, how great...

I sent them an email asking about my order status, they responded (with an ETA on my order), and then I asked them to cancel and refund me rather. Shortly afterwards I was CC'd into an email from them to Payfast, asking payfast to refund me directly. Done, dusted and refunded within a matter of days.

Oh okay, well I guess I'm just left waiting till they respond to my initial email then. Thanks!

You really seem to like them. But I cant overlook the fact that buying from them is an inconvenience. The mark of a good business is not that they refund people after days/months. It is being able to deliver what you are selling and keeping the customer who has paid you good money informed. Else you are just in the business of inconveniencing people.

Your opinion is respected though.

Thanks all! I just emailed them again today and within about 20 minutes I received an automatic reply saying my request was received so that's something. Still don't know why it took two tries just to be told they got my email though

I also didn't have a great experience with them. Ordered just after Lockdown level 1, struggled with email communication, tried refunding part of 1 ordered, which took a while. Received my items 2 weeks later. Gave them the benefit of the doubt, because of the lockdown, ordered some in stock RAM from them on Monday, and haven't heard anything else from them again.

edit: So this post was maybe a bit premature. After threatening with legal action, they did come back to me with a tracking number. The parcel was already being shipped. Communication will go a very long way...

So it seems I also have fallen into their trap.. Sent a couple of emails with no response yet.
Historically they might have been ok, but Im afraid that no longer is the case.

Also, looking at hellopeter there are a number of people experiencing this same problem with them.
(Looking at the positive reviews' review count should also indicate the validity of those)

I have basically given them an ultimatum to give feedback today, else I will have to proceed with legal action.

There are some new online computer stores that popped up during the lockdown. Although they don't carry the amount of stock the bigger ones do I see them growing. With some support I can see them give the big guns a run for their money.

My problem was not stock related it seems, but rather communication.
Drop shipping is a viable business model, especially if you look at many suppliers on bidorbuy, but the key here is: being predictable and open communication.
In many cases just communicating with your client will instill confidence, whereas not communicating back to clients timeously just let them know they are not important..

I definitely agree. If it's going to take 2 weeks to ship, that's fine but make sure I know before I order and, if necessary, let me know after the order instead of making me think that I'll get it in three days. All they need to do is reply to an email saying "It will be there on this day..."

Yea simply showing "shipped" on orders should be such a simple update to make but would help a lot.

I ordered on Monday as well, items which are still in stock.

I always check shipping terms. It says delivery (not shipping) 2-4 business days after processing for Western Cape. For me that's latest tomorrow or I would have expected communication.

Not legit unfortunately. I ordered a router from them. I happen to have another of the same type of router to compare with. The router I received had clearly been removed from its packaging (protective plastic removed) and had been used (it didn't have the default password on it). The box had a label on it "Corex credit". I sent them a number of e-mails to find out if this was done in error. No response... dodgy!

I got mine 6 business days after ordering, just had to message to get the tracking number. 2 days to shio, 4 days for Fastway.

I ordered from both pclinkshop.co.za and .com
Unfortunately had to cancel the .com order but .co.za order arrived in about 4 working days.

Anyone used the collection method?

If so, is it a retail shop? (having stock on display)

So one order is enough? Are you sure you did not order out of the clearance section? Yes their communication could be better - it is atrocious actually.

My first orders with them simply arrived, without any notice. Did not note the time it took to deliver. My first refund was also quite painless. My latest order that I placed on Monday, arrived on Wednesday morning - taking into account the public holiday on Tuesday, I am not complaining. No shipping notification or tracking number received though. Once again their communication that is lacking.
