I have just bought three second hand 512MB PC133 sticks of RAM. I decided to check if they are all OK, put the first one in and fired up Memtest86. I stopped the test after the first pass, with over 100000 errors. So the first one is DEFINATELY shot.
The second one is running now, and after 2 passes, has returned 1 error.
My question is, how many errors would be considered acceptable? PC133 RAM is incredibly expensive, and quite rare to find. I only paid R320 each, and the best price I found new was R799.
The guy said that he did have some extra, and that I should let him know if there is a problem with them. I don't know if I should send the second one back with only 1 error, but I also don't want to use it, and end up getting BSOD errors, random freezes, etc.
So, is 1 error acceptable?
