Perhaps a Vodacom Data Bundle does not expire?

I do not want to jinx myself but something strange is happening. My Vodacom 2Gig Data Bundle expired 30 May 2008 (I bought it 29/30 April 2008 ) and yet I am browsing and facebooking and blogging and writing this right now.

I ask you: How?

Do you have any airtime balance left on your prepaid SIM? If so, you are more than likely paying "Out of bundle" rates for the data you are currently using.

If this is on a contract, then you'll be billed for the data usage.

I've been browsing the internet on R8.34 since Sunday. I remember wondering why the balance isn't dropping but then thinking it's probably just a systems error.

I made two calls that went to voice mail today and my balance dropped to R8.22. I checked my balance again just now (after about two hours of internetting) and it is still R8.22

I do not have a contract, nor do I have an 'active' Data Bundle.

How's that?

That's pretty strange then, and definitely not how things are supposed to happen. Normally once your data bundle expires it should start using your airtime balance for the data used. Must be some error on Vodacom's part then.

Dude i say download to your heart's content! I don't think they can bill you for Airtime you don't have :D

How many MB do you still have on the card? Seems like you slipped through the cracks. I'd avoid giving V3G any personal details just in case ;-)

I use my Sony Ericsson phone as a modem. I do not have any active Data Bundle.

The best thing is that I am on prepaid. ;)

Don't fret, dude.

Vodacom are on to you an as soon as the billing problem is sorted, you (and many other customers like you) will receive your bill for data used. The current balance on your account is sitting at R6 754.72. As it is quite a large amount, Vodacom will make arrangements for you to pay it off over 3 months.

Just kidding ;) - seems like you have found a loophole which I am sure V3g is already working on having sorted out.

Just kidding - seems like you are lucky and have highlited a problem which I am sure V3g is already working on having sorted out.

I must say, did not even consider asking veniqe for a cell number to trace ;)

But if veniqe wants to PM me, please do so.

This happened to me about 2 years back when i was using my phone as a modem using my MTN prepaid SIM. All i need was at least R2 on the phone to make a connection, and i could download to my hearts content. It went on for like a month and half(on and off).

Too bad i didn't know that much about 3G back then.

I soon upgraded to a Motorola V3x, and since then i have discovered the joys of 3G with Vodacom :)

Is this a 2GB pre-paid or contract data bundle?
