So she can't take sanitary products along? Not being a woman, I legitimately don't understand the problem here and the article makes no effort to explain it either.
Lots of rampant members and burning weed at these festivals.
Do the math.

It would be nice to see a clean bathroom at any music or outdoor festival.

Not seen one yet, so perhaps the problem is not specific for women on their periods but rather just that there are not enough ablution facilities or cleaning crew at these types of events?
I also think that's what it boils down to because even if the ablutions are mint on day one by day two the hordes of drunken shambles have destroyed it all and there's virtually no way to catch up.

The alternative is glamping in a field or establishment nearby, pay your money and get the good stuff, the choice is up to the festival goer.

All I will say, is most men here are freaking clueless and just want to attack. How about listening once to what woman need (not want). Some human dignity

This is what I agree it comes down to..

They don't need a special place.. just a clean place.. so organizers either add more facilities or more cleaning crews cleaning more often..

So anything woman needs to be in one thread and the rest can have as many threads as they want? Talk about male privilege.
Came here thinking about punctuation.
Putrid topics need to be in one thread.

So what is the solution? Porta Potties at any festival is a nightmare...for everybody.

I understand that women have extra hygienic needs at that time of the month...my wife showers twice a day.

It is very easy to complain and criticize...but what can/should be done?

I guess you never watched the video to the end?
There is many answers to this, to make facilities available,
For people, especially men, to frame a period as a problem. Even dads who make their daughters feel shamed.
Break the stigmatisation of periods and accept to part of human biology for half the population!
Make period products easily and discreetly available.

This is not just a music fest, but life in general

I agree Porta Potties are a nightmare for everyone, and when it comes to pissing and shitting, everyone puts up with them and uses them, both men and women. Having a separate, clean space for women to deal with menstruation hygienically is not that much of a demand though, as it's not always as simple as just going for a piss. It doesn't even have to be that big, and maybe a space where you can buy products if you need to. The video did explain what they wanted and also what is being done.

WTF are you talking about? This is not the 1800's...nobody does that.

People talking about the stigmatization of periods in 2021 are looking for attention and trying to stigmatize it themselves...

How would you know anything about that?

Oh because you've never been shamed about your period, therefore it doesn't happen?

Why when the goal is to distigmatize?

It's always something....

Maybe men should start throwing receding hairlines and back hair into the ring and see if they'll build us special little spa's at outdoor events.

"All men and women are equal"...but still whinging and wanting special treatment 'cos periods.

How convenient...

The goal is to have a safe and clean space to deal with menstruation. There is still a stigma around it and many woman do feel shame and embarrassment as it is joked about and commented on and teasing goes on around it, from mostly men, so of course discreet is easier.

The real struggle can be attributed the disgusting state womans toilets are left in at festivals. Creepers, the war stories Mrs Netherby has from festivals in Europe and South Africa will make the hardest jock weak at the knees. Woman's loo's seem to be worse than the gents in most cases.
That's nothing. Last job I had in SA, HR sent an email asking the female employees to please be respectful of other women using the cubicles because someone had left a sanitary pad on top of the toilet roll dispenser. A USED pad. And that was in a professional environment.

Prior to that, I was the GM of a restaurant, and can confirm that the female toilets were some of the most disgusting I have ever seen. I'd rather not go into too much detail, though.
