[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

Got this TV delivered yesterday. My main TV set is a 2018 Samsung Q9FN. And the Samsung is regarded by many as one of the best LCDs ever and ive become accustomed to a certain level of PQ. Sooo ... The hisense which is not a brand i typically considered in any of my TV purchases ... And lets just say for the price im impressed ...very impressed! I dont think for the money there is a better 4k hdr TV period. Maybe i got lucky with a good panel ...

Yes If i go looking for flaws there is the faint grey vigenetting in the two top corners of the screen (i really mean faint) which is not a deal breaker at all and really only noticeable on a solid coloured background. Other than that Im hard-pressed to fault its PQ. Blacks are super black (had to set the local dimming to high to avoid the blooming i had at default settings) ... The TV is being used for only Netflix and Youtube so i can't comment on gaming ... Menu browsing is more than fine no slow downs or laggy navigation. I still need to calibrate it properly

but aside from PQ ... One major frustration was the vesa wall mount. The damn TV at the mount is curved with some recessed mounting holes ... So you need to add extra washers to the top mounting holes (2x5mm washers) to raise the top part of the wall mount bracket such that the TV does not face the ceiling when you wall mount it ... Actually ... ill add an ordinary metal washer between the two 5mm rubber washers tomorrow and i think it will be perfect ...

in the end a great TV for the money... Can see why everyone is in awe of it

Which model did you get?

I'm glad you mentioned that. Sounds like kind of a pain in the ass. Mine will also be going up on a mount. Hope the modification goes smoothly with mine.

So two 5mm rubber mounts and a metal typical washer does the trick and makes it aligned to the wall. So these washers on the top mount hole

Been looking at the Q8600 55" for R10500 on Takealot. Do people recommend this is the best TV at this price range? Are there others worth considering/waiting for?

I bought a second one ... Hopefully its as good a panel as the first

If you get a bad panel - can you not just keep exchanging it until you get a decent one? TA exchange/return policies are usually good.

No i meant I bought a second one for another room in the house ... The TV is great... My main TV is the Q9FN Samsung for the lounge..

Do you have any complaints on the Q8600? Keen on buying it on Takealot.
Vigenetting on the edges is the only flaw i see ... But i aint looking at the a solid white screen when i watch TV ... And it honestly is very faint ... Not a deal breaker. Would have been nice if the ViDAA OS had emby and more apps

Its really good only reason i bought a second one for a different room in the house

I have a B8000 connected to a Shield TV (tube). It's a beautiful marriage. DV on buttery smooth Netflix, HDR on silky Plex, 4k Youtube goes down like condensed milk. You should try it!

The only problem is HDMI CEC doesn't work properly. The Shield receives CEC signals from the TV, but the TV doesn't receive CEC signals from the Shield. So, if I cast to the sleeping Shield, it doesn't turn on the TV or switch inputs. And turning the Shield on with the Shield remote and CEC on doesn't turn on the the TV (fortunately the remote has infrared built in which works on the TV).

Anyway, has anyone managed to get CEC on this or other Hisense TVs behaving properly? Anyone have a firmware update available that I can try (all the links in this thread are dead)? Thanks

CEC on the Hisense doesn’t work with an Apple TV either. But when you connect the Apple TV to a Samsung it works flawlessly. Hisense needs to sort this out with a firmware update.
