Do you plan on hooking it up to a next gen console?
The U8 doesn't have HDMI 2.1, so you're not going to get VRR, ALLM, eARC or 4K@120Hz.
The LG is probably the best budget HDMI 2.1 TV you can get. Has all of the above. Also a 10 bit panel instead of 8 bit.
To get past the local dimming issue, just turn it off altogether. Your blacks won't be as dark, but at least it will be consistent. Not something you're going to notice much during normal viewing. LG also has better viewing angles, picture looks the same even at almost 180 degrees.
In terms of picture quality I'd say the U8 wins. In terms of an overall package and future proofing, the LG wins...
Great summary. This is the main reason I have been undecided in getting the nano86 is the rtings.com review isnt too great. The Q80T is also tempting but the price is a bit high.
