I was told on twitter by a company rep that none of the new models, including the U8G, will come with HDMI 2.1. Once again we are being shafted here in ZA. I was so excited about the "real" U8G.

Even the website has contradictory information.
 
Well... No HDMI 2.1 is a deal breaker for me unfortunately.... But maybe we'll have proper clarity when they're officially launched

I am sure that we are getting the Europe, Australia version of the U8G.

From the Australian Hisense site on the U8G: "*Does not feature HDMI 2.1 input and 4K@120Hz through HDMI. All HDMI inputs are 4K@60Hz."

So it would seem we are !@#$ out of luck. What else would you recommend in place of this? I think the price point for this crappy version for 55inch will be R20 000.

This is actually super annoying! I've been holding off my purchase of a new TV specifically for a U7G. :mad:

Maybe an LG Nano86?

Samsung Q70T or LG CX if you need 4k 120hz with other HDMI 2.1 features.

Or you can pick up a 55" U8QF for <R11k if you don't need gaming features.

I'm looking for a PS5 TV so HDMI 2.1 is a really important feature. Thanks for the tips. Maybe CX prices will come down now that the C1 is out
 
As the proud owner of a 65" CX, it's one of the best purchases I made (albeit expensive). I am in awe just looking at anything on it. It does a great job even upscaling my old 720p stuff. Happy that it's gonna last me a long time and I don't think OLED burn in is going to affect me.

I don't play games on it FWIW.

Where to find the U8QF for under R11k? Cheapest I if have seen is R12.5 at takealot.

Only problem I have is the build Android TV is very slow and laggy.

When watching 4k Movies from my Plex Server it constantly freezes, when using the volume button on the remote.
When watching Youtube it does the same but after a while its better. Can't run too many apps at the same time.

Would have been great to have a browser built in.

Also can't cast from the F1 TV App to the TV from Iphone.

But otherwise its not a bad TV, but would have been better if the built in Android TV had more ram and a better CPU.

yeah many people have issues with the apps and media player on all tvs

they all suggest get a seperate tv box which also defeats the purpose of having a smart tv
