[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

i have issues with vidaa as well , my showmax never worked and my dstv would decide when to work

catch up never worked on the dstv app as well
My previous Hisense (55a6500) worked well with the older Vidaa.

Vidaa 5 on the 55u6g is fast and I have no problems in Netflix, Showmax, Youtube etc. Plays beautifully

Just DSTV Now that is furking around

Regarding the quality of the Mi Box on the U6G. I haven't really messed around yet. Just plugged it in to watch some rugby, and it looked kak. Maybe I must try one of the other HDMI ports, change some settings, use different cable etc.

yeah probably settings on the dstv app wasnt changed

netflix i have never had issues

youtube as well

just dstv and showmax but they both run by the same team i guess

its quite nice on the xbox

it has the new look

but not on the tv
Yeah, but the xbox is pretty much a supercomputer in comparison to the stuff running in the TVs, so DSTV can get away with being a bunch of morons who can't code for shyte.

Nope DSTV and Showmax are not run by the same teams.

Anyone have the 55U6G?

Getting annoyed with this tv.

Beautiful picture, and almost everything works without issues (Netflix, Youtube etc.) at highest settings.

But DSTV now, can navigate fast and starts playing almost instantly, but stutters and lags the whole time. I watch a lot of sports. Impossible at the moment. Constant stutter and lag. Guy kicks ball, image stops, few seconds later resumes and game is over already or its 2 passages of play later already. The whole time.

I tried all the picture mode settings. Set everything to low etc.

Internet connection is fine (50/50 Fibre) via cable.

Did any of you read about this issues or something?

If I must guess, its the DSTV Now app on Vidaa thats doing this and not the TV itself?

Miss my sports. F1 coming soon.

Please shout if you can help.

PS: If I connect my Mi Box S everything is fine (picture quality just looks crap via the box?).
I'm no fan of Hisense but that's a DSTV/Showmax issue. Their infrastructure is rubbish and they don't care or don't know how to fix it - or a combination of both.

When I watched sport on the DSTV app the picture fails, just goes, you can hear everything. You initially think the TV is having issues but if you move the remote the slider and menu for DSTV now is there. So it's them and their infrastructure for sure.

Only thing I watch on DSTV these days WAS football, but there's no point watching that anymore. I thought UFC would be fine at 5am on a sunday .....Nooooooope. Does the same thing. The pirate sites literally have better infrastructure than DSTV.

Seems to be working 100% (for now).

The TV auto updated last week, and this seems to have fixed the issue.

@Devo1

I have the 65U6G and I too can confirm, its not the TV, its just DSTV's infrastructure and broadcasting capabilities that's to blame for the poor picture quality. Whether you watch it with the built-in VIDAA app or via MiBox / Ematic, the quality is not really going to change unfortunately. DSTV will need to come to the party (do they ever, lol?) and start offer streaming capabilities in 4K for everything or the majority of their channels at least before things will ever improve.

Have to say, Netflix (especially with Dolby Vision and Atmos) is superb and Amazon along with YouTube is pure joy on these sets (at least for me personally). While its not an OLED or QLED TV, for the price, I'm more than happy with the quality of all the other apps and the features the TV has to offer :)

Seconded, Netflix , Youtube etc all work beautifully and high quality @ 4k with vidaa but the app store is rubbish and limited

I just had an interesting experience with the Hisense call centre. I couldn't find information about whether the U8G and U6G TVs use VA or IPS panels on their SA website. The site lists contrast ratios, which can usually tell you the panel type, but published figures can't always be trusted. Online reviews and info sites for these TVs didn't help, as the U8G models differ between the USA, Europe and Australia. After playing switchboard pinball for a while I was told (get this) that they "Could not disclose that information".

WTF?! Panel type is a common deciding factor for many people. VA has better contrast but lousy viewing angles, IPS has better viewing angles but blacks look grey in a dark room.

Can anyone here who owns a 65U8G or 65U6G tell me what panel they have?

I have a 65U6G and from what I can tell its a VA panel. Not that I'm an expert, but even for a VA panel, the brightness is still of a decent quality and more than suits my needs and that includes viewing angles as well :)

I have the same TV in my bedroom, it never received any update. What is the problem with yours?
