It could be.

I also found the Menu button on the Hisense remote which brings up Settings on any source and applies them, opposed to going Home to VIDAA > Settings which might not have been applying them. Hence why I previously mentioned considering using the ‘Apply Picture Settings’ > ‘All Sources’ setting, to try and resolve the issues.

So it could also be that. I must test Netflix in VIDAA later.

Yes I used the button on the remote to go to settings while the source played and changed what settings I wanted.
Wasn't even aware you could go back to VIDAA Home and change from there :X3:

If I had to give you my settings capd, it'll be a collection of every single combination. I've tried everything, and nothing helps. Turning the motion settings off makes things much worse... The 'smooth' option is best, but still, no one on earth could bear watching what I'm seeing. I borrowed a 'smart stick' connected via HDMI to try a Netflix alternative to VIDAA ... Doesn't change a thing, as others warned. Then used my good old Bluray player with some bluray discs, and that was the best I could see so far... Yet worse than using my old 2013 Samsung TV.

So unfortunately my purchase was pointless :( Takealot collecting tomorrow, then I'll see where to from there

Happy that the A8H with Apple TV is working for you though! Enjoy

Hi! It's the 55" U7H. Just to give a full account... Got my first unit 2 weeks ago and it had a cluster of ~4 dead pixels, so I immediately logged a replacement. Got the 2nd unit this past Monday and noticed one dead pixel, which I was willing to look over (only noticeable at half my usual viewing distance). But yeah, then the obvious motion issues became evident and I unfortunately can't defend keeping it

I actually had my mind set on the A8H until I saw your earlier posts on the weird motion you experienced as well If I have to spend the extra cash to upgrade, I definitely won't be getting Apple TV or anything else to aid if VIDAA behaves the way mine does

I think you mentioned you'd test Netflix via VIDAA a bit? Any feedback on your experience using the tv as is would be much appreciated. I'd primarily be using an external HD to play movies etc.
 
@capd would you say that the out of the box colour calibration looks as natural as it does on your C1? Or your iPhone display, for that matter. Close?

If you say yes I’m pressuring my dad to buy himself a Christmas present :laugh:

Difficult to say thus far as I’ve been faffing so much about motion. :laugh: But I’m pedantic about everything around picture quality and haven’t found any issues with colour, also having watched several shows I usually do on the LG (CX). So out-the-box colour is great! Will try get to taking some shots with my Fujifilm mirrorless using the same settings under similar lighting.
 
I've recently bought the 55 inch A8G OLED on a November deal. I had previously been looking at the U7Q/U8Q models, so when the OLED came in at that price it seemed a no-brainer despite my reservations about VIDAA.

I've not spent a great deal of time with the new TV, so not yet sure which aspects are going to annoy me most.

The motion smoothing/Soap opera effect was however something that I noticed immediately.

I adjusted the settings to:
Picture Mode: Cinema Day/Night
Smart Scene: off
Sharpness: 0
Adaptive Contrast: off
Ultra Smooth Motion: off

So far, these settings seem to have solved the issue although admittedly I would need to watch a great variety of content across platforms before I know for sure. At any rate, it does not appear to be any worse than my Samsung Q70T which is my main TV in the living room.

I'd love to hear more about others' experiences with these settings.

PS - does anyone know what differences between the A8G and the A8H that's been discussed here on this forum?
 
Slojo37, is there a way to verify if your A8G is running a 60hz panel or 120hz? Seeing that the Specs on Hisense's site can't always be believed? Does it have HDMI 2.1? How is the build quality of the TV?

My biggest question regarding the A8G, A8H, is even although the Tv's have some issues regarding motion/image processing, are the tv's ok to be used for Netflix, DSTV, gaming? Or are they so bad that they should be avoided at all cost?

Also, been following this thread for a while, and yes it sounds like one users opinion is not always the same as another user... A R14999 A8H Hisense, is about 5k cheaper than the LG C1/CS5, but in terms of overall performance...in simple terms does it suck? Or is it 95% as good as the LG C1/CS5?

For me it's still between the following:
Hisense 55A8G - R10400
Hisense 55U7H - R10k
Hisense 55A8H - R15k
LG A1 55" - R15k

The A8H has gaming features like a 120hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync (variable refresh rate) the A8G doesn’t.

@GatskopZA where is the A8G that price?
