Also i want to note, was uber tempted to buy the U7H at makro @R9999, From far the TV looks impressive...supposedly nice spec's(HDMI 2.1, 120hz, Quantum Dot, etc.)...But not sure what the designers of that TV was thinking...Think it was..."Engineer1: Well tv is done, let package it, then we can go. Engineer2: Sir we forgot to put the panel in the TV!"...It literally looks like actual panel was an after thought..."Glued" onto the outside of the screen lol! Plus looking from the side, one can pretty much see in between the TV panel and Frame?

The gap looks uniform so it must be part of the design of the TV. Im guessing its a "Bezzeless" design. R9999 is a great price. I believe the Black Friday/November pricing was R10999. I was actually considering this TV for my PS5 due to the specs and price.

I'm actually a bit surprised to hear the A8H s proper 120hz - I had assumed the entire A-series was 60hz, but I guess that explains the nearly 50% higher price for H.

My living room TV is a quantum dot Samsung, so I was keen to get an OLED but at R15k we're looking at LG territory, and it's more than I wanted to spend. And since I don't yet have a new gen console (PS4 + PC games) I figured gaming performance not the highest priority for me at this stage.

Build quality seems decent, but time will tell.

I'll post an update on the motion processing once I have spent enough time with it. Since the settings changes as indicated above it seems OK though.

Hi! It's the 55" U7H. Just to give a full account... Got my first unit 2 weeks ago and it had a cluster of ~4 dead pixels, so I immediately logged a replacement. Got the 2nd unit this past Monday and noticed one dead pixel, which I was willing to look over (only noticeable at half my usual viewing distance). But yeah, then the obvious motion issues became evident and I unfortunately can't defend keeping it

I'm going to order the 65 U7H on Discovery Miles D-Day and hoping to iron out any motion issues using the settings on VIDAA as well as using an Apple TV 4K.
Will report back here.

I've recently bought the 55 inch A8G OLED on a November deal. I had previously been looking at the U7Q/U8Q models, so when the OLED came in at that price it seemed a no-brainer despite my reservations about VIDAA.

I've not spent a great deal of time with the new TV, so not yet sure which aspects are going to annoy me most.

The motion smoothing/Soap opera effect was however something that I noticed immediately.

I adjusted the settings to:
Picture Mode: Cinema Day/Night
Smart Scene: off
Sharpness: 0
Adaptive Contrast: off
Ultra Smooth Motion: off

So far, these settings seem to have solved the issue although admittedly I would need to watch a great variety of content across platforms before I know for sure. At any rate, it does not appear to be any worse than my Samsung Q70T which is my main TV in the living room.

I'd love to hear more about others' experiences with these settings.

PS - does anyone know what differences between the A8G and the A8H that's been discussed here on this forum?

On Ultra Smooth Motion I used Custom and set Judder Reduction and Blur Reduction both to 0 just incase Did the same on my Samsung QLED instead of using Off.

Yeah look I appreciate that others are enjoying various Hisense models, including the U7H, but I'm likely heading over to Samsung (the Q60b would save some bucks, or the Q70a would match what I paid for the U7H)... Or if I can bite th bullet, LG A1 will be an extra 2k, C1 an extra 3k... In which case the C1 should be the obvious choice

Hoping I was just unlucky with the U7H, because I cant see how a TV can be released with the performance I experienced

The 65 inch is a 10bit panel so it may be different to the 55 inch which uses an 8bit+frc panel (this is the same for the u8h and Toshiba z770k). Same processor though just more dimming zones. Edit: All seem to use an 8 bit + frc panel, but this information is very hard to find.

For my Toshiba z770k which luckily is Android I've found custom motion to be best, 0 judder and 3 smoothing. With it completely off some media was just weird so prefer a setting that gives me a good overall experience.

When I checked out the 55inch u7h in store I only had an issue with Vidaa media controls and oddly the Toshiba was better at upscaling. Given both are hisense they should just stick to android /sigh.

It's a nice tv but at 15k I'd probably be considering the 55 inch oled or the u8h, depending on room setup.

I highly doubt the 65" U7H is 10bit. The 55" and 75" use the same BOE ADS panel and they are 8Bit + FRC. The higher spec American U7H that uses a VA panel is also 8bit + FRC.

I checked the Hisense website and the specs are not listed. Where did you get your information from?

Nice, how's the brightness in comparison to your c1... cx?

The A8H has gaming features like a 120hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync (variable refresh rate) the A8G doesn’t.

Hi. I've been reading this thread as I'm looking for a TV for R15k and just made an account to post here. I think I've narrowed it down to either the 65" U7H or the 55" A8H. My viewing distance is 3.2m. Any advice as both these are R15k on takealot at the moment?

Same processor MT9900, but oled panel's picture quality will be way better, perfect blacks, no blooming.

There's also the LG A1 55" for 15k at the moment. Anyone an idea of how that performs compared to the A8H? Particularly in the motion department using the TVs processing/software It's between these 2 for me at the moment

Edit: I had Makro play a 4k HDR mkv file for me directly via USB on the A1 and it was smooth on the Filmmaker setting, but nowhere near as bright as I had on the U7H. But motion trumps brightness for me for sure
