[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

Unfortunately it's the same with a ps5
I tested it on a different game then I did on my Xbox and didn't download the high quality textures but never the less u can still see a difference.
Very weird. Have you tried both HDMI 2.1 ports? Have you tried 1440p120? Have you tried a different high quality cable?

Tested on both hdmi 2.1 ports, tried 1440p and 1080p @ 120hz on the Xbox, hdr turns off when in those resolutions, i used the hdmi cables that came with both the consoles it should be good enough though.
Let me know how it goes when u test it out.

One thing I did notice is that it drops dv for HDR 10. Also the yuv goes from 444 to 422 so the colors do take a knock.
These 2 shots are from Gears 5, one is 120hz the other is 60hz, the 120hz does seem to loose a bit of colourIMG_20221221_122907.jpgIMG_20221221_123337.jpg

Yup could do some more playing with settings to see, but also noticed that games don't stick at 120fps anyway fluctuate from 99 to 120, good thing it has vrr.

Processor issue?
Could be, could be other settings on the Xbox where is choosing yuv over rgb or because 444 is uncompressed it can be done on 60hz and at 120hz its compressed, also saw the Xbox goes from 12bit to 10bit. So it is dropping the colour depth, but not sure on the sub sampling

OK setting colour space to Rgb from standard does bring some colour back, can't force it to yuv 444IMG_20221221_145140.jpg

It fixes the Xbox main screen and ingame main screen but games still look bad compared to 60hz.
If you turn off hdr on the Xbox the game displays in sdr in 4k 60hz and 120hz without any issues.
Such a nice tv it's a shame they couldn't get this right.

4k@120hz vs 4k@60hz in SDR no issues there

I didn't have any issues on the menu, only games weird.

HDR turned off? Hmmm I wonder. I'll do some more fiddling as it switches to hdr10
Keep color space on RGB and turn off Hdr10 and Auto hdr so the games will play in Sdr.
On a side note....
I usually have picture on warm 1 or 2. The washed out picture there appears alot worse.

Thanks will fiddle, I also normally have it on warm 1

So I went for the Hisense 65 A8H. Sitting 3.2m away. Testing for 7 days.

First thing I notice is my eyes cannot focus on any still images, then when there is motion I feel like I am going cross eyed, get dizzy and after about 20 minutes develop a headache. This is at full brightness.

I've read that some people have issues with the PWM dimming on cheaper TV's, which is more pronounced on lower brightness settings. The headache comes on almost instantly at night when I turn the brightness way down which does align with the PWM idea as the lower the brightness, the longer the PWM interval.
Also in some scenes, I can actually detect flickering.

Potentially exacerbated buy the HDR, having to focus on really dark and really bright in one image?

I'm also able to see the 60hz flicker from many modern LED lightbulbs. Usually PWM dimmable bulbs.

I've played with all the motion settings, contrast, peak brightness, SDR, HDR, 4k, upscaled etc. No win
The motion for the most part is great and there's not a lot of judder as far as I can tell.

I also have this gut feeling that it's too big, but I think that may just be the viewing discomfort skewing my judgment as I have no problem with cinemas and home theaters with 100"+ screens. Maybe if my eyes could actually focus the size wouldn't be an issue?

I have an astigmatism, but I wear glasses. so I don't know if that would be a major contributing factor.

My previous tv was a 48" Bravia from like 2010 with no issues.
I watch a lot of tv on my 27" PC monitor with no issues.
Movie theaters are no problem.

HELP! lol
What do guys think?
A1 or C1 as they are flicker free? No OLED for me?

Wanted to provide my feedback on the 65" U7H.
I have it up and running now and have had some time to play around with the settings.

Off the bat, it's great! My setup started as:
AppleTV --> TV
TV --> Sound Bar (ARC)

Unfortunately this introduced a delay on the audio that was perceptible to me. I've read that this can be due to the audio format the AppleTV outputs and the TVs need to convert this to be passed through to the sound bar.

In any case, I changed the set up to be:
AppleTV --> Sound Bar --> (ARC) --> TV

I was happy to discover that my sound bar is capable of Dolby Vision passthrough! It's a few years old and I couldn't find any confirmation that is could passthrough Dolby Visions, hence why I initially connected the AppleTV directly.

Anyways, I'm using 'Cinema Day' mode for SDR content, with all processing disabled. Tweaked the brightness and contract slightly. Have the backlight/local dimming set to high.

For HDR I am using 'Dolby Custom' for daytime viewing (same as above with all processing off). Backlight/local dimming set to medium. Tone set to 'Warm 2'.
And then 'Dolby Night' for night-time viewing. Brightness lower than above, and using 'Warm 1' for tone to get that movie cinema feel.

I haven't experienced any motion issues at all. I know @capd and @bRaNoVa had some. I suspect they are related to using the native apps (rather than a media box) and/or DolbyVision IQ picture mode (dynamically adapts to room brightness).

All in all very very happy.

Thanks all for your continued fiddling!

Wonder if the same will be true for PS5? @Dillon7769
I spent quite a few hours messing with the settings and nothing seems to work for me. Movies are good in HDR and DV, there is the motion issues mentioned which can be an annoyance but changing to DV custom and messing with the motion settings there helps, definitely not a deal breaker! However for me 120hz gaming is! I play alot of cod and there's nothing I can do to fix this issue. I had already tried setting picture to HDR- standard, imax, filmmaker etc and nothing changes for me...tried both standard and rgb colour space I also tried 10bit and 12bit colour depth with different combinations just to see how it turns out without any luck.
Best way to test this out is play a game in HDR 60hz first then try HDR 120hz in any hdr picture mode and u will see the difference....especially so in hdr standard on warm 1, It seems to me that the tv can't play 120hz and hdr at the same time correctly it plays 60hz in hdr, 60hz in sdr n 120hz in sdr fine. Unfortunately I will be sending it back to takealot and hold out awhile till I can find something else.
