Something doesn’t add up.

LG and OLED go together ; and with as you say they have all this cash invested in R&D. And the technology fundamentally has an issue with retention and burn in

But an LG OLED from a few years ago doesn’t dim? Because they weren’t aware?

No it is not because they were not aware, LG is improving on the tech every year, obviously an OLED from 2015 isn’t going to perform or have the safety measures as an OLED of today. LG didn’t stop investing in R&D after they created they first OLED, They push a product out and then work on making the next product better. That is how Tech works.

Everyone knows that OLEDs from 6 years ago were riddled with burn-in issues because there were no safety measures put in place .

Every piece of Tech gets better as the years go by so I don’t know why you think LG is an exception.

You have already proven that you are not the sharpest, No one ever said burn in doesn’t exist, but older models are more susceptible to burnin compared to newer models due to measures put in place. I.e Logo dimming/pixel dimming.

There weren’t any safety measures because they weren’t invented yet, But once issues arose then they went back to the drawing table to try figure out how to make sure the issue doesn’t affect later models as such.

You do realise they have to find ways to make OLEDS brighter each year while also trying to ensure that the brightness doesn’t affect wear on the pixels. It is not an easy job but we see improvements every year don’t we? Who knows 5 years from now OLEDS might not suffer from these issues anymore.

Even right now as we speak, guess what, LG is working on the issue to make sure next years models are better.

Why are you pretending like you don’t know how Tech works Dolby? I know you have 100 000x more brain cells than that close minded dimwit up there.

Its a known fact newer oleds are much less susceptible to burn-in. Rtings' long term test even proves it. LG CX and C2 look a world apart

But I can tell you that pixel shifting & dimming aren’t the issue. There’d be other reasons like materials used.

Do you really think that in 2016 they haven’t ‘invented’ dimming and other features, even though they had plasma before it?
 
The different manufacturing process & materials more than likely has more of impact, than someone ‘inventing’ a screen saver or something. I had an LG plasma and there was a separate menu on the features to prevent retention. LG weren’t caught off guard by burn in and quickly made a screensaver …

Oh come on Dolby you are smarter than this, You are starting to sound like that Census guy.

Do you think dimming and pixel shifting are the only safety measures put in place, You know very well there are many other sorts of safety measures put in place, Both hardware and software. Every year they add something else that will help.

Also you can expect a Plasma and and OLEd to have the same safety features when they are both two different technologies. Just because one solution works for one doesn't mean it will work for the other. You have lived long enough to know this.

SO what exactly are you not getting?
 
The Hisense 55a8h has so far been a joy.
All tested with Denon AVR 4K@60Hz, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision and HDR.
Nvidia Shield TV pro - Plex, YouTube, Netflix, F1TV (not tested) UFC Fight Pass (not tested)
Plex - Streamed DV and HDR, bright colors, no stuttering, good blacks, no banding.
Netflix - Streamed DV and HDR, bright colors, no stuttering, good blacks, no banding.
Youtube - No stuttering or banding, 4K looks very good.
Apple TV - Apple TV, no other apps installed. (IMO, most apps work better on the Nvidia, Disney+ was an exception)
Apple TV - Best quality of any other streaming service, no banding or stuttering.
LG 4K BlueRay player - Streamed DV and HDR, bright colors, no stuttering, good blacks, no banding.
DSTV - The panel is unable to polish this turd. HD content is vibrant and looks good, waiting to watch RWC in 4K.
Cannot test 4K@120Hz as i dont own a new console.
A person will be very hard pressed to find another OLED panel for the following;
55 inches, Dolby Vision, 4 year warranty, R12,500.
I couldn't see any cable management options when the panel is wall mounted.
The updates - the panel took a long time going through all the updates.

Ordered Thursday from progenix.co.za, panel was delivered on Friday.
Customer service was very good, first time i ordered from them, they also live here on MYBB.
 
I received my A8H 65" this morning a huge truck arrived at my doorstep the oled is amazing picture quality and the build quality is fantastic, just that the screen is so thin and the stand and tv are so heavy it's hard to handle set up without bending the screen
