lol mine neither. guess I suck at taking pics hahaha! however, I think its a bit unfair that one person gets two entries, surely there were other pics to choose from to give everyone a fair chance??

It is not about unfair or fair to be honest.
It is about quality of the pic.

Difficult to choose, but voted 6 - That hippo is just so cool !

EDIT: Suggestion for future comps: Multiple entries can be allowed per person, but only one entry per person should make it through to the final vote.

Do yourself a favour and check out what Rouxenator can do with a cellphone camera.
Also, I made it to the finals (ended third IIRC) in the previous competition with a photo taken with a budget Sony point and shoot.

Sucks to see so many professional photographers' pics in the final. Would like if it was amateur only :D

Congrats though...

Doubt it, it is more the person who has the expensive camera and editing skills

You are right and you are wrong.
The equipment has very little to do with a good pic. My stuff is taken with an off the shelf 10 megapixel point and shoot and phone camera.
This where you are wrong.

You are however right with the editing.

Dolby, it is what it is.
Your zebra pic is only striking because you have desaturated the pic.
It has no actual x-factor beyond the fact that is cleverly cropped to focus on the main zebra.
If you were to compare the original and the submitted one it will be clear.

Then again it is not as heavily edited and shopped as the Namibia pic.
No offence...it is a great pic but the editing and filters used spoils it for me.

Just to add on.
My comments should not be construed as negative but as objective and factual.
Digital editing of pictures has become the norm...and a lot of people consider that it makes up for lack of talent.
The other side of digital editing is that it does allow off the shelf cameras a bit of a helping hand so to speak.

Well, to be honest, these competitions aren't fair, as I took my pics with a cell phone camera, and sat forever in the vehicle to get a good shot of the lion, and then you get photographers that is professional and edit it to a point where it almost looks fake. Then they should have a competition for Photo Editing and not for Wildlife Pictures. It happened in the last competition and again in this one, and its demotivating to partake in any competitions if its going to be unfair.

Then vote for me.
Mine was taken with an off the shelf camera and no editing, aside from the size.

The editing goes as far as clicking 'monochrome' on my camera before the shot was taken?

No colours touched, saturation, levels, sharpness and even cropping. That is the original from the camera ...

All good pics but imo, Kage has the best because it's the 'purest' ........ editing is a no no for me.

@ RPM - I think all the amateurs here need a comp of their own, no editing or fancy cams ;)

I stand corrected.
