Doubt it, it is more the person who has the expensive camera and editing skills
Then why did you enter mate? By that reasoning any fool can take a good photo, I wonder how many people took their cameras of Full auto and actually adjusted their settings? To take a good photo requires some experience, practice and timing and artistic sense.

to win the money so we can afford a generator to power our house during the 5 day or more no electricity strikes and to not use this expensive 3g during it.

Anyway does it even matter why I entered

I see.
it is best to talk to a bank to get a loan to get a generator.

Not going to do anything with a chance of debt I prefer cash purchases. Dont even have credit cards.

Timing and zoom for 8 and 4, number 6 looks like a filter which even cellphones have. Number 9 looks like an edit, then again I have never been to the Karroo

Yeah Number 8 ... seen a few people mention it
Righty here are the details:
Sony Alpha A100 (which is now a 5 year old camera)
105mm @ F5.0
ISO 200
No Flash
1/50 second exposure

The only touch-up I did was to up the contrast a bit - but not much more.
and yes I was really THIS close to the birdy at the time - it also looks less cheesed-off in real life ;)

For interest sake - I've posted dump of the raw conversion of the pic

I don't want to embed a photo in this thread ...

Ta for those who have voted to so far (irrespective of your choice)
